    Tincup's 63 Dart w/5.7 Hemi

X2! I was at the Adirondack Nationals, saw the car in person and met Tin. I'm glad I walked the show a second time because I don't think the car was there during my first time through in the morning. Anyway, pictures don't do the car justice. What an awesome build! This car redefines early A's.

    A v6 Curiosity

Definitely NOT a stupid question! A friend and I actually considered this back in the day, but with a 2.2 turbo. It would be an awesome handling car, for sure, but requires a lot of fabrication. I would not recommend it if you don't have a lot of mechanical and fabrication experience. For that...

    Top Speed stock 5.7?

I've had a stock '07 Charger Daytona 5.7 topped out at 140. I'm pretty sure that's where the electronic limiter is. Felt like it had more to go... Top speed is more about aerodynamics than weight. The heavier car just takes longer to get there but all else being the same the top speed would be...

    Read this before you swap...

Chrysler is also having a similar problem with the new 3.6L engines, except the seats aren't pressed in all the way from the factory. 10 or 15k miles later as the closing valve pounds the seat further and further into the head, the seat gets cocked so the valve can't seal anymore.

    6.1 Swap Won't Rev Past 3K HELLLLPPPPP!!!

I also have an '05 Ram manual trans PCM. The PCM gets a Vehicle Speed signal from the ABS controller. The signal is hardwired (not on the bus) so duplicating it should not be too difficult. We just need to know what type of signal the PCM is looking for. I bought a signal generator from Dakota...

    6.1 fuel system help

I modified a stock 71 B-body tank to accept an '08 Viper fuel pump module. 3/8" line from the front of the tank to the firewall with plastic OEM style fuel line connecting the fuel line to the pump and fuel rail with quick-connect fittings. The B-body tank is the perfect depth and the factory...

Which hemi? 6.1 for $4000 or build forged 5.7?

Let's not forget, the 6.1L already comes with a forged crank, better rods, ARP fasteners, better heads (11% better flow intake; 13% exhaust,) oil squirters for the pistons, reinfoced block, higher flow injectors, hollow valves, better valve springs, etc. It's a no-brainer, IMHO.

Which hemi? 6.1 for $4000 or build forged 5.7?

If it were me, I would buy the complete 6.1L and get the car running! The 6.1L is no slouch and should be good for an easy 500+HP with some bolt ons and tuning. Then build the 5.7L as a spare engine, or slam it together and sell it to recoup some money. Or... Build it for 800HP at your...

    A/C with Spool mounts

I fabbed my own after experiencing the same problem with the TTI conversion mounts. I was even able to keep the oil filter in the stock location.

    Firewall pics needed

The way I've always done it, both with the 3G Hemi and BB conversions is to cut the engine mount ears off the k-frame, have the engine and trans attached to each other, bolt in the trans mount, place the engine where you want it on the k-frame and fab up some mounts. This way the distance...

    I got it in!

I used the TTI headers. The gap is 1/2", a lot better than 3/16" but still not a lot. I don't expect it'll hit, but I won't know for sure until the first time I dump the clutch (can't wait!!!) I didn't like the way the TTI mounts interfered with the factory A/C compressor and oil filter so I...

    I got it in!

No, unfortunately not running yet. Once I do, I have to rip it apart again to do the body. Good to see yours coming along so nicely! Be careful with the valve plastic valve cover, it's very easy to grind too much.

    I got it in!

I had the same problem with the passenger side on my car. I just trimmed the valve cover where it was too close to the shock tower. I doesn't give you a whole lot of clearance, but it's much better than before. Nice build, by the way .

5.7 swap question, re cruise control

I'm interested in this also. The PCM does need a vehicle speed signal from the ABS computer. Although the vehicle speed is transmitted on the data bus for the body computer, instrument cluster, etc., the PCM get's its own separate hardwired signal from the ABS computer. I've been trying to find...

    Late "A" body - 6.1 HEMI

Wow Tin, it looks like you had to cut a whole lot more out of the frame than I did. I didn't have to touch the vertical wall of the frame, only the flat top part that stuck out past the wall.

    6.1 ecu wiring

I'm using an '05 Ram manual trans computer. The wiring connector from the engine (the orange one) needs to have one wire swapped over then just wire the relays, throttle pedal, data link, etc as if it were a 5.7. I plan to send the computer to BG Performance to flash the 6.1 calibration into it...

    Late "A" body - 6.1 HEMI

It's close, but it fits. I cut and rewelded the flange on top of the frame rail for a little added clearance. You can't use the truck front cover unless you change the intake also. I think the car front cover with the alternator down low looks better.

3rd Gen Hemi Brothers quick question on Harness'

Actually only '03 and '04 Rams had this module. The accelerator sensor was part of this module with was actuated by the gas pedal/cable setup. In '05 they went to a pedal with the accelerator sensor built in so you wouldn't need to have this added component, basically getting rid of the...

3rd Gen Hemi Brothers quick question on Harness'

I had to wait 'til the wife was out of the room so I could dig through my pile of receipts LOL! RL028878AB, this is a reman PCM I bought new from the dealer (I worked there at the time.) I paid $319 which was 10% over dealer cost, two years ago (damn, time flies when you're having fun) and...

3rd Gen Hemi Brothers quick question on Harness'

The PCM comes new with SKIM disabled. Once it is installed in a vehicle with SKIM, it "learns" the vehicle and enables the SKIM feature. You cannot "unlearn" SKIM without reflashing the PCM. To my knowledge, this is not possible at the dealership level. The company in Michigan is B & G...

    5.7 questions please help

The starter need not be clockable. Use one of the ones recommended by TTI and you won't have a problem. TTI also sells mounts. I used their 58SMA73's with modifications but they will probably be fine for you out of the box. I also bought the oil filter block off plate but wound up not using...

5.7 Hemi in Dodge Demon w/ power steering

The exhaust ports are aimed at a different angle on the 5.7/6.1 as well as the block being shorter and the heads being wider. All this adds up to the #1 tube wanting to occupy the same space as the steering box. I wanted to put in the large sector shaft manual box but couldn't because it's...
