Firstly if I was to weld the perches on in the factory location, angle, what angle would the pinion be relative to perches?     Does anyone know if the ends are the same for tapered axle earlier 8 3/4s as the later?

    How did the factory attach the housing ends on the 8 3/4? I can't see welds, looks smooth almost like one piece with the rest of the housing. Surely it fit over or inside the tube and then was welded somehow? Anyone have some actual knowledge on how the factory did it?

    There's a 1986 904 for sale locally, wondering if the stock lockup converter would handle a mild 360? In a light duster with 4.10's Thought the low first gear might be useful too. What's your thoughts anyone?

    When should you brace an 8 3/4 housing?

    I'm going so cheap with my build, I'd probably break something else first, like stock b-body axles. It's just bracing will cost me nothing now but time, I think it looks cool, but other than that probably little benefit to me.

    I'm building a 4.10 sure grip 8 3/4 for my duster, before I blast and paint it, wondering if it's worthwhile back bracing it. At what sort of power levels should they be braced? I'll probably never run slicks but 295 radials.

    Hi guys, anyone here got an aluminium drive shaft on their a-bod? What did you use, are there any cheap options? Chopped down ram shaft for example? Be keen to hear what's out there.

    From the looks of the measurements I've seen for bearings, they should be the same, but for the slightly thinner axle? So I'm picking should work?

    Have to forgive my ignorance here, but what does this locating bar look like, I've never seen anything used when someone welds on a rear.

    Hi guys, does any bright folk out there know if the housing end flanges on the pre 65 8 3/4 axle are the same as the later style? Or even if they are close enough that a little machining will make them work?

    Thanks everyone, that's just what I wanted to know, as that is what I intend to do, swap in my 8 3/4 and a new drive shaft then swap motor and trans when I get it later. Cheers.

    Small block 904 vs /6 904, any difference to drive shaft length?

    Hi all, swapping from a slant 6 in my 75 duster to a 360, will run a 904. Want to know if there's any difference to drive shaft length in the two set ups? I heard somewhere that the slant 6 904's had a shorter tail shaft, is that right? I don't have a spare small block 904 to measure to check.
