Early style pre '65 8 3/4 outer flanges the same?

Hi guys, does any bright folk out there know if the housing end flanges on the pre 65 8 3/4 axle are the same as the later style? Or even if they are close enough that a little machining will make them work?

From the looks of the measurements I've seen for bearings, they should be the same, but for the slightly thinner axle? So I'm picking should work?

Per talking to Dr.Diff all that needs done is changing the flange studs.Then you can bolt in regular axles in place of the taper axles. He sells the longer studs. And you have to use the 65 up brake backing plates.
