    kick down questions

Dude, go to the Transmission and Drivatrain section of the forums and do a search for Lokar Kickdown Cable. There are some excellent posts, with pictures, for both the Holley and Eddie carb setup. There's one there by user Prine that you should definitely read because he explains what parts you...

Difference in trans = better milage

What size tire are you running on the rear? With 2.76:1 rear gears, there's no way you should be turning 3000 RPM on the highway at 70 MPH.

    u bolts and shock plates

As dusterny said, you usually have to put a bit of a squeeze on them to line them up with the holes in the shock plates.

    U bolts

Snake, when you get your springs done, the shop will have, or can make you up, the proper U bolts.

    Pics Please

The proper way to determine the width to which you get the rear end cut, is to get the wheels and tires you plan to use, center them in the wheelwell, and measure between the mounting surface at the rear of the wheels.

    shock plates

The axle tubes are bigger on the 8.75". You can elongate the holes in the 7.25" plate and get them to fit properly.

    Leaking axle seal 8 3/4

Remove the wheel and brake drum, and you'll see a fairly large hole in one location on the axle end. Look through there and spin the axle a little, and you'll see 4 studs with nuts in behind there. . Put a deep socket through the hole and line it up with each nut, and remove all four. Give a...

    68 Dart GT Trans Question

Mad, no matter what the tranny is, the bellhousings are different from /6 to V8. In order to install the 318 you'll need a small block 904 or 727 tranny. Hope this helps.

    Tranny pan differences

If you can look down from the top and see where the dipstick tube enters the tranny, you'll be able to see the kickout as seen in the lower left of the 727 photo Joe posted.

    8.25 Power Question

At 350 hp I'd run that 8.25" till it cratered - and that should be quite a while, especiall if you're running an auto tranny.

    Auto Tranny Problem

I was taking with him last night and since he doesn't work today, I told him to take it in and have any engine and tranny codes pulled. If the engine or tranny threw a code, it will give us a starting point at least.

    Auto Tranny Problem

Thanks for the info Jack. Actually, I was talking to my buddy last night and told him the next time it happened, to stop the vehicle as soon as he safely could, turn off the engine, wait a little while, then turn it back on again to see if maybe a sensor, servo, or the computer would reset...

    Auto Tranny Problem

Thanks fishy. I was thinking that would be the best place to start, but then I'm no auto tranny guru. :) I'll probably end up helping him do the work, so I'll be sure to adjust the bands.

    Auto Tranny Problem

This is for a buddy who is having problems with an 87 Jeep Cherokee 4x4 Auto tranny, inline 6 cyl. This one has the Power / Comfort switch on the dash, although I don't think this has any effect on his current problem. Anyhow, lately with the hot weather, he'll be driving along at road speed...

There have been a couple of threads here on using the 8.8" Exploder rear end. As you were attemting to do, I believe the guys just bought an extra short side axle then shortened the long side and fitted the extra short axle. Do a search and see if you can find the threads.

I'm not sure what the going price is for a running 904, probably in the $150 - $250 range. However, I'm certain that MANY of the folks on here would be very interested in a complete play-by-play photo and description of the 518 install in your Cuda. Please??? :)

    7 1/4 behind 340

I blew one to pieces behind a 318 years ago. I replaced it with another 7.25" I had laying around, and ran it behind the 318 for a couple of years, then about 16 years behind a hot 360. I pulled it out when I started the rebuild on the Valiant and I have an 8.75" to replace it. The biggest thing...
