What the heck is this shifter?

When in doubt, consult the expert. @Dan Brewer

    Installed new pistol grip

@19DART66 Can you elaborate on this magnificent shifting apparatus? How about some better pictures of the front lever.

    Installed new pistol grip

True, it will be a little different now but I ran through the gears a few times just sitting in the garage and it wasn’t too bad. I wrapped my thumb around the main stick while pulling up on the trigger and pushing forward into 1st. Somewhere in the abyss there is a thread where someone...

    Installed new pistol grip

I’d love to run a pro-shift trans but this is primarily a street car and I’m not sure the Liberty set would be enjoyable around town. On the track? Hell yeah.

    Installed new pistol grip

I’ve been wanting to try something different on my Hurst V-Gate. Was using a good ‘ol t-handle but I just can’t leave well enough alone so I started searching for pistol grip handles. The V-Gate is a little different because you can’t swap out the handle to use a real pistol grip so I had to...

    Help needed with Lakewood Scattershield

Solved! Took the fork pivot out to install a shim under it and compared it to the pivot still attached to my stock bellhousing. “What’s this?” I’ll be damned, they’re different. Seems that the one that came with the Lakewood is this one Brewer's Performance - Mopar A833 4-Speed Transmission and...

    Help needed with Lakewood Scattershield

That may be very difficult with everything assembled.

    Help needed with Lakewood Scattershield

Thanks for the reply. I think I’m going to make a 3/8” thick spacer to go under the pivot and test.

    Help needed with Lakewood Scattershield

I’ll pull the fork out tonight and measure it but I’m pretty sure that since it was working before the bell swap that it’s the correct fork. The adjustment rod did not need lengthening because I was already using the longer one (I think the B/E bodies used it). But now it is almost maxed out on...

    Help needed with Lakewood Scattershield

Thanks Dave. One thing that did seem suspicious to me is that when I went to reinstall the pushrod between the z-bar and the clutch fork, it needed to be adjusted wayyy out toward the end of the pushrod. Would that indicate the pivot bracket is too short? I could possibly add a spacer under it...

    Help needed with Lakewood Scattershield

72 Duster, smallblock, A833, Hays Street/Strip clutch. So I had a factory aluminum bell on and swapped in the Lakewood bell. Before the swap clutch worked perfectly. Now I’m not getting enough departure to get it into gear. Reused same factory fork and the pivot that came with the Lakewood...

use the weight or loose the weight?

We need to come up with something to do every time an old thread comes back from the dead. Like when you played drinking games in our youth and there was a “social” where everyone at the table had to take a shot or chug the rest of their beer. Maybe every time an old thread is revived, there...

    8 3/4 E-Body in an A-Body?

Narrow the e-body rear to fit you needs and buy some quality axles to fit. Money well spent.

    Pinion angle question

Yes, I understand the concept. But how much time does the car spend under heavy acceleration compared to part throttle cruising? The shaft in those videos certainly is not under any heavy acceleration. Right now I have a .5* up pinion angle which I don’t like. My plan is to add a 2* shim to...

    Pinion angle question

That’s what I was thinking as far as the angles go. .5* up static is no bueno. I’m thinking that the S/S springs and relatively low power will not create much more than a couple degrees of change under load, certainly not at cruise. So you’re thinking a 4* shim would be a little better than the 2*?

    Pinion angle question

Vibration occurs at speed. Seems to increase with vehicle speed not engine rpm. At 100mph it is bad enough to shake the dust out of the headliner! I've already had tire balance checked, replaced drive shaft and u joints, rebuilt trans with all new bearings and tailshaft bushing. Wheel bearings...

    Pinion angle question

Trying to track down the root of a vibration I've been having. Decided to verify pinion angle. Car is 72 Duster with warmed up 318, 4 speed, 3.91 8 3/4, 002/003 S/S springs, 28" tire. Checked angles with full weight of car on suspension at ride height. Currently transmission angle is 88* (or...

    Street Gear Poll

    ^ This x10! I run 3.91s with a 28" tire and a non-OD 4 speed.. It turns 3k at 60mph and is a blast around town....:burnout:
