It is the correct pump. The angle is correct as well.

There was definitely spring pressure. The pump is seated correctly. The pump outlet is already disconnected. I took the liberty of testing it before I was going to put the rest of it back together. There is fuel in the fuel line to the inlet. The pump isn't pulling the fuel through.

Keep working the Holley. It will be better with the cam you have in there now. You would need to work the Eddy if you swapped it on there anyways.

Not sure. I'll get those prices the next time I go there. They sell the leaded stuff by the 5 gallon container as well. But even the owner/manager there recommended bringing my own container to fill up from the pump because they would end up having to charge too much for the container stuff.

Holley's website has a cool tool for this... http://www.holley.com/division/Holley.asp Top right hand corner. One of the important determining factors is max RPM of motor. For your 383 up to 6000 RPM's, it suggests 750, or Street Avenger 770.

Did you try rejetting the carb?

Also, if you use drop base, then dont forget to use the banjo fitting on the fuel inlet on the carb. Summit PN G3139 or Eddy PN 8089. Otherwise the fuel line wont clear the base.

The standard Performer intake is close to stock intake manifold height. The Performer RPM is about an inch taller. You may run into clearance problems with the RPM and 3" air cleaner. regardless of manifold, it would be wise to check hood clearance with modeling clay or Play-doh before you slam...

Most part stores have a cheapo performance parts section. Schucks/Kragen usually carry the standard 14" round, 3" deep chrome open air cleaner made by either Edelbrock or Mr Gasket Co. If you have an aftermarket Edelbrock 4 barrel carb with the standard 5 1/8" opening, then these should work...

If you go with the Eddy carb, go with 1406 electric choke instead of 1405 manual choke. The 1406 comes equipped with leaner jets. It may have a small effect on mileage. Not sure of the answer on your manifold choices but I cannot imagine much difference between the two.
