    318 Runs like crap

MY 74 dart 318 has the same symtoms you have, smooth at idle, in park rough on exceleration, shakes, then smooths out.. I've done everything I know of. But then I did a timing check with an adjustalbe timing light, seems the car with the vacuum connected is pulling like 44 deg adv. So there...

    318 trouble

thanks guys, Everything that you suggested I have done, not once but many times.. The timing is on TDC, rotor pointed at No. plug wire. I set timing both by hand then I plug vacuum, and test with light. I"ve triple checked the wire order, but I'll look at that again. the mechanical...

    74 dart Vacumm diagram or??

thanks for the input. but can either of you tell me where the vacuum line comes from for that "snorkle"? If this is a vacuum operated heat diverter, then I would think the vacuum hose should come from a source that can be shut off when the temp has been reached... The 74 is none smog here...

    engine shakes

I'll give it a try, although I don't understand how that would effect the engine at higher rpm. Like i said since the first Dist went bad, I've had nothing but trouble with the replacements... pinging at low speed, then choking if you punch it. should never happen that both occure. Now this...

Hi all Well been having a little trouble with the 74 Dart, mostly and infact its been the Distributor. Was going good for years until the vacuum mod gave up, then a replacment, then another replacment then another, you get the pic, all these were Cardone rebuilds.. So I changed to a "new"...
