**Is this normal?? 318 intake residue**

Spray water. The engine will choke and you won't be spraying chemicals all over everything.

engine dying due to electric fan

I'm pretty sure the fan is blowing out the fire in the cylinders. Yeah. That's got to be it. Maybe you should have bought a less powerful fan.

    318 Engine stumble

Vacuum leak at the manifold that opens at a certain value, but past a certain throttle level it mixes fine? Maybe? AKA a sympathetic leak. I've seen stranger...

    318 Engine stumble

bottom line.... use stock plugs. Anything more advanced will be too hot. It will cause detonation throughout the driving range of the 318. You may not feel it at idle. Do you ever have a problem with dieseling? (running on after shutting off the ignition)

    Bad running 318

You were right the first time. Carbon under the carb. You will have to take the intake out. Flip it upside down. Pull the ste3l plate of the valley area of the intake, and you'll finger enough carbon there that looks enough like coal, that you'll try to sell it to a power plant. Clean that out...

    318 4bbl to FI ?

Thanks guys. I Java access to three of the best junkyards in Atlanta. Pull-A-Part is the cleanest junkyard I've ever seen and selection along with price cannot be beat. I was also asking because the truck gets about 17 to 20 mpg in its current setup. Was thinking an injected setup would...

    318 4bbl to FI ?

My son has an 84 D150 with a 318 4bbl. All fine and dandy down here where we don't have smog checks, but he's moving to a state that does have smog checks. I'd like to do some work to his truck and bring it up to him. How difficult would it be to slap another engine in it with fuel injection...

360 partially rounded head bolt help

As a former jet engine mechanic, I can tell you that a 12 point socket is only for those fasteners that are in hard to reach spots where you need every 16th of an inch to make the turns. You should always opt for a six point where torque is involved, even if you have to use an extension. That...

Manifold off, now what?? Lol...newbie question

Agreed with all recommendations. Just be neat and take your time. If you do drop anything in the valley, stop right then and get it out. Saving it for last is a sire way to forget you dropped it in there. Also, to save a little cash, use fingernail polish remover. It has acetone, is liquid...

Check at brake booster. You put your foot on the brake when you change gears. May be sucking air there.

Whats that noise coming from my 318?

Seriously, check the flex plate bolts before you panic. It could save you a lot of money.

Whats that noise coming from my 318?

That happened to me on my 318. Turned out to be my flex plate bolts were coming loose and hitting against the inspection cover. I'd definite check that they are still torqued.

    318 won't rev past 3000 rpm

If the can had a flat lobe, you hear it every time it reconnected to the lifter. An out of the ordinary tapping. Unless of course ALL the lobes are flat.
