Finally got the car out for a test ride. Vibration is gone so it was the yoke bushing.

    833 rear bushing replace

The tool worked great removing the bushing. Initially it took more force to break it loose then less force the rest of the way out. Hardest part was driving the new one in. You use the tool to also drive in the new bushing. Needed to get a dead blow hammer to install the bushing. Got the...

How To Remove/Install Clutch Pedal Spring With Pictures

Hadn't thought of using a floor jack. Good idea.

    Noisy clutch pedal

When I had the over center spring in the side of the spring would rub on part of the metal clutch pedal assembly making noise and requiring me to lube it. Using diaphragm clutch now so it's been removed.

    833 rear bushing replace

I ordered a replacement bushing from Brewers performance. I was expecting a bronze bushing but it's different. When I asked about it they said, "They are a steel shell with babbit lining, just like a rod or main bearing for an engine. New process used this style bushing in the 4 speeds, the...

I found a tool that I like better for the task. Check this one out: E-Z Extension Housing Bushing Remover and Installer Plus Seal Installer | A to Z Tool . Removes bushing, installs new bushing and seal. Check manual for the tool for how to use it. I call to get some more information on the...

Hurst competition plus installation kit a body

To put my Hurst competition plus in my GTS I had to cut a slot in the brace that is attached to the floor for one of the rods. It was part of the installation instructions.

    833 rear bushing replace

Drive line too short? Well it's the original drive shaft and the yoke bushing is only the second one in 114,000 miles which was installed around 60,000+ miles when the trans was rebuilt. Any comments on the visual play in the video above?

    833 rear bushing replace

I have a vibration that felt like the drive shaft. Investigation showed me some respectable play up and down on the yoke bushing. Enough for me to make a tapping noise pushing up and down when it stops. So I figure it needs replacing. After reading this thread I thought if a shop had the...

    Hurst shifters

I have had a Hurst Competition Plus shifter in my Dart since it was about 2 years old. I put almost 100,00 miles on the Hurst with only lubing and replacing bushings. Original inland shifter was worn out at about 20,000+ miles. Only thing cool about the Inland shifter was the T lock out for...

How To Remove/Install Clutch Pedal Spring With Pictures

Years ago my dad came up with the washer idea when the clutch pedal broke and I didn't know how I was going to get the spring back in since it goes in expanded. He said expand it with a come along put 2"x1/8" thick washers between some of the coils at the bottom, drop it in and slide the...

Much better now so I'm probably not going to be in a big hurry to swap it out.

    Clutch Recommendations

It is better without the spring. Has a little too much free play so I need to adjust it and try it again. Still may be engaging a little faster than a three finger B&B.

    Clutch Recommendations

It did. I removed it today to see if it would help. I didn't have a chance to drive it but I did an initial test going in and out of the garage. It seems better. Have to give it a road test to actual test it.

    Clutch Recommendations

When I redid the GTS Dart I decided to try a diapham clutch instead of the Borg and Beck. Bad choice I hate it. The pedal pressure on the diapham isn't constant and changes right around the friction point. Makes it difficult to drive a manual trans with that condition. Creats a quick enganement...
