    Super Six vs. Standard Six.......

There are a couple of stories regarding how many horses you get out of the swap, one thing is for sure, its worth it.The first one I did was on my 68 d100. I just about doubled my gas milage. It went from around 13 to around 22. Power increase was nice, especially in that truck. The bigger...

If you decide not to get that cam, look up slantsix.org, there is a erson cam group buy. Its not really a group buy, call up erson, tell them you heard about them from slantsix.org and you can get a great price on cam and lifters. Your choice of cam.

    Slant 6 Headers

I dont think they are for a truck, they look like they have clearance for a high mount starter. I think 170 ci engines need specific headers.

    rod bearing

Yes, this is being done while the engine is in the car. Not fun, but nice to know I can do it.

    rod bearing

I need to replace a rod bearing in my 225. I took it apart to check for a spun bearing, the top half of the bearing moved when I replaced it and tightened it down, I squished the tab that keeps it from turning in the process. I have never fit a bearing before. Will I have to possibly file the...

    Lokar kickdown Help.

I know, the cartoon they sent for the install is a joke. I called them and told them so, they said they are slowly redoing the diagrams. The pic in the upper post shows that all you really need to do is install the end of the lokar in a stationary position, using brackets and your imagination...

    Holley 2300

Hi, my carb is working great. I am curious, anyone using this 2 barrel style holley, what accelerator pump cam are you using? I have the white one on it right now, I flipped it over to the other profile and the take off seems faster now. There are like 6 different cams available, which one are...

    Carb problem

O.K., I got it. I took the carb bowl and metering block off and hosed it out with carb cleaner, found what looked like spider web in one jet(#59 jets). I assume it was part of the old gasket I failed to clean out. removed the idle screws, hosed out everything, put it all back together and it...

    Carb problem

The vacuum port is on the passenger side, no leaks, the only other hose going to the carb is the pcv. There is not a huge stumble, but its not right. It was worse, but I raised the float level and its better. I also noticed how critical the accelerator pump actuator is.

    Carb problem

Slowly getting the bugs worked out of this car. Now the carburetor. It is a two barrel holley, 2300series. The car warms up and idles great. As soon as I give it some throttle it starts to die, I have to feather the throttle to keep it going. When I give it most of the throttle there is a lot...

    Lokar kickdown help

Well I got it working now, when in drive and give it wot, it downshifts. Shift points are not at a low rpm. I think its good. I dont know what I did to get it to work though. I think the swearing helped. I did use a hammer, to beat the linkage bracket into submission. I really did not mean to...

    Lokar kickdown help

Thanks guys, wiring the kickdown lever back and then hooking it up wot sound like it might be the ticket. I almost bought the manual valve body to get rid of the kickdown altogether, but then I'd have to buy a floor shifter, how would that look with a bench seat? Did the factory ever do that? I...

    Lokar kickdown help

Hi, just got my lokar kickdown cable. I can get full throttle when I step on the gas, but when I attach the cable, I cant get full throttle/kickdown lever rotation. Seems like the kickdown spring is too stiff adding to the throttle spring. I feel like taking a hammer to this *****. Any ideas...

    Heat riser bushing gone.

I know where you are talking about now. I dont think there was a bushing there from the factory. Is what your looking at possibly casting lines around the shaft hole? How much of a gap is there?

    A question

Possibly the gasket between the intake and exhaust manifolds (where the two bolt together) is leaking. I just replaced mine with one from a company in australia, $11 bucks. Its not one of the stamped sheet metal p.o.s. I will try to post a link when I find it. Its over on www.slantsix.org...
