best hi flow ex manifold/drivers side

I don’t believe any of those manifolds will fit into an early A body and clear the steering shaft and frame rail on the drivers side. Maybe a post from @Treblig can shed some light on this.

    No Valiant Love?

My little commando convertible 66 Signet. It’s a fun little car, and I might take it up to the cruise tomorrow evening, it’s supposed to be 71 degrees here. Spring has finally sprung here in the Mitten.

    "Early A" doesn't cut it

It’s really a non issue to me. Everybody knows what early A bodies are….before 67. Why complicate it?

    "Early A" doesn't cut it

I’ve had a 66 Barracuda for the last 30 years, and they’ve always been called early A bodies, why would you expect them to change the name of this sub forum to suit your opinion? Follow the herd? When I first got my 66, I was literally the only one buying parts, guys at the Nats and other swap...

    "Early A" doesn't cut it

The term “early A” is not just from this site, that is what they are called in the Mopar world. Sorry if you don’t agree, but that’s what 63-66 A bodies are called, and have been called, for a long time.

What Differential Do You Have in Your 1965 Barracuda?

The 742 was available as early as the 67 model year, and was phased out in 69 when the 489 was implemented. Although it’s funny, the “657” cases of 1964 were the same size as the 741, and they came in all Max Wedge and Hemi cars, and although the 741 gets a bad name for being the “small”...

What Differential Do You Have in Your 1965 Barracuda?

I was only speaking to the early A bodies, as he asked about a 65. Although you speak the truth. In 67 the 8 3/4” was standard with the 383 in a Barracuda, in 68 it was standard with all 340 and big block cars, and remained standard throughout the next few years until 1973 when it was replaced...

What Differential Do You Have in Your 1965 Barracuda?

The 8 3/4” was available by late 1965, although always as an extra cost option. Mopars big fix for the weakness was to make the 7 1/4” Suregrip standard on the 4bbl cars. I would bet that under warranty, the 8 3/4” was not the first repair, it was probably given to repeat “offenders”, after a...

    Console

Yes they will, but a couple of differences. The later ones had a woodgrain finish to the top plates, and the glovebox hatch got a push button lock!

    Grill Swap

I don’t think that’s a possibility unless you change the whole front end. And of course you know you will need to change the bumper as well, and add the valance, as I believe it is an integral part of the 64/65 grille assembly.

As I’m sure you know, you had to order the disc brakes and 8 3/4” rear end separate, they were always an extra cost option and never part of the FS package

    65 Barracuda Factory Fan?!

The A/C fan for 1965 would be 6 or 7 blades, have no clutch, and a 2 piece metal fan shroud. It will be 17” in diameter, unlike the later fans which are 18”. If I didn’t mess up my knee today, I would walk over and take a pic of the correct fan for you. I did take mine and add a clutch to it...

    1965 Barracuda dash in a 1964 plymouth Valiant ?

Don’t forget the heater controls are different, and the heater box is also different where the heater controls hook up to it. Of course anything can be done.

Does this look like correct gas pedal assembly?

And I’ll add, if you’re going to use that later style swing pedal and weld a spoon onto the end, it will still not work with your early pedal. The slant 6 pedal has a trough on the back to accommodate the roller mechanism from the slant linkage setup. Only the V8 pedal has the flat plastic rub...

Tire Size for 5.5 small bolt rally wheels on 64 Valiant 200

    sway bar

So, here’s the sway bars and all their related bracketry. Not sure who made them, but they’re as old school as all get out. There’s some rubber strips that go around the axle housing to cushion the brackets and give ‘em some gripping power.

    sway bar

I have an early A front and rear seat bar assembly that came from a 65 Barracuda. Although aftermarket, it was obviously installed very early on as the car was sitting for at least a couple decades. Probably the best items I gleaned from that car, and the rear window blower and 5.5” wheels.

    welding trans crossmember

I used to make these, but I ran out of cores, and nobody was sending me theirs back, despite me offering a $15 discount. I guess I shouldn’t have taken off the $15 on the sale end, but I was trying to be nice and help the early A guys out.

Radiator that will fit my 64 barracuda for a 340 upgrade

I’m going to point this out before you order anything. The 1964 V8 cars used the same size 19” radiators as the slant 6 cars, and as such the radiator support only had a 19” opening. You will either be cutting the opening in your radiator support larger, or replacing the radiator support with a...

Windshield wiper refills for 64 Barracuda?

There’s a reason the young man at our store is assistant manager, he knows cars up and down. He went to school with Nella, but in his 25 years here on this earth, he has been fully engulfed in the Mopar community because of his grandfather. He is a great young man, and when I go up there next...

Windshield wiper refills for 64 Barracuda?

These were actually on the shelf at my O’Reilleys, I bought all 3 sets. It wasn’t that long ago, and I would venture to say that I’m the only person in my town that needs 13” wiper blades. I’ll check with my store, the young man who is assistant manager owns about 8 early A bodies.

    Dash removal question 65 barracuda

The answer is no, you don’t have to remove the windshield to get the dash out. As mentioned above, take out the glovebox liner, the radio, and the cluster, then go up in there with a die grinder and cut off the ends of the bolts that hold it in, then use a flat bar between the dash frame and the...
