It can be fixed but you will need someone who knows how to weld cast.. And if I remember correctly you would have to take the tranny apart just to change the tail shaft as the rear bearing is mounted in the tail shaft, just can't remember if it has a clip that has to be removed or not, been...

Ok, not too sure why it won't shift... I put a e-body pistol grip in my 66 Dart and have no problems with it, but I didn't take the shifter off the trans, I have to 2 bolt type for the shifter handle. Hope oyu get it figured out, and sorry I wasn't much help

First what type of shifter did you put in there? Is it a Hurst comp? If so it sounds almost like it isn't lined up right. They have an alignment hole on the side that you can put an alien wrench in it to align the arms up. Then you attach the rods to the trans. I am sure someone else who can...

I am not too sure if your crank is drilled deep enough or is it just not wide enough. If it is deep enough then you can get a conversion bushing form Napa that will do the trick.

Why would you want to take out the pistol grip? But if oyu do you will need the handle too. Plus you will need to know what shifter you have as to if it is a 2 bolt type or the slip in type

So far I have found the 318 's to be drilled to take a 4 speed, not too sure about a 83 tho as I have never delt with one that new. And as Adam said, do not cut down the input shaft, you would only be asking for trouble. Had a 68 Charger some one did that on and i was for ever changing pilot...

I have never heard of that before. And i have a 66 Dart with a 833. Have you tried to disconnecting it from the tranny side and see what it does

I am thinking that you would need one for a 63-66 for it to fit right. But I am sure you can make it fit with a little work. If my dart was here I could take a look at mine and see if it looked the same as the one you are showing.

Like others have said if it is a small block you should be fine. On the bb you will have a problem in the later years, i think it was in 73 when they didn't drill it out if it was an auto. Ran into that problem when I had my 68 charger R/T a few years back.

Not oo sure of a good clutch for your 66. I have a 10 1/2 in. clutch in miy 66 Dart w/ a 318. Not too sure if you can use a 318 flywheel on a 273 or not. I am sure someone will come along with the answer for you.

I am using the Hurst comp plus in my 66 Dart. I has the 2 bolt type shifter handle, which is nice since I have a couple of different handles I like ot use with it.

Yes the cross members are the same. And when I did it to my 66 Dart I used the same drive shaft.
