New NSS - No back up lights

Update. I got another switch (from rock auto this time.) It was the 'long' style. This one works with no issues. I have reverse lights again! I guess the autozone switch was just bad out of the box. Thanks all for your help.

New NSS - No back up lights

After looking other places for a replacement switch, I have determined I have the “short” switch. Some places I read they are interchangeable. If this is true I will try another “long” switch as it fits the harness plug so much more snug. Hopefully that will fix the issue. The second picture...

New NSS - No back up lights

Thanks. I will try a different vendor this time.

New NSS - No back up lights

Jumping the terminals on the connector the reverse lights come on. The switch doesn’t change on the ohmmeter when in reverse. I will try a new switch.

New NSS - No back up lights

I see. That makes sense. I will pick up another new switch and see if that fixes my problem

New NSS - No back up lights

That’s kinda what I was thinking but I wasn’t sure. Could that mean the new switch (or at least the reverse light part of it) could be bad?

New NSS - No back up lights

Sorry I wasn’t clear about that. The reverse lights were working fine before I swapped switches. So I should rotate the plug and try again?

New NSS - No back up lights

Wasn’t sure whether to post this here or electrical - 727. Everything was working fine other than the neutral safety switch plug would often wiggle loose and cause the car not to start. I looked at the switch and I’m not sure how to describe it other than inside the circle part where the 3...

    3rd member swap advice

My new axles had the green bearings already installed, so hopefully they will be ok on the street. Sounds like I just need to make sure the thrust button isn't there. Not really concerned about the speedo as it has been off since I went to these tires. I checked it with my phone gps and know...

    3rd member swap advice

Thanks. Hopefully I'll get lucky and they will be the same. If not good to know the conversion joint is an option.

    3rd member swap advice

So I don't need the thrust buttons because my axles have the green bearings installed, correct? I didn't see anything but again am not positive what I'm looking for. Here's pictures of both sides.

    3rd member swap advice

Ha. Good eye. It definitely isn't loose but I didn't put a torque wrench on it yet until I can confirm the spec. I believe it's 90ft lbs but not positive. Will definetly confirm before the install

Thanks! I will check this and report back.

    3rd member swap advice

Also a good tip. If they are not do you reccomend swapping yokes or just using the u-joint with the 2 different sizes? Thanks.

It was fairly clean when it was pulled. Good idea about the pinion seal though since it is easy to get to now. Thanks.

No benefit just thought it looked a little better. Mine is John Deere blitz black. Hell, the whole car is at the moment ha.

    3rd member swap advice

Is this hard to do? I do have the fsm for 71 - is it explained there? Thanks.

Green wheel bearings? I bought new axle shafts from Dr Diff and they have green bearings.

    3rd member swap advice

I'm not sure what you mean by this. Is there something I should look for?

    3rd member swap advice

This is what I was hoping. Not that difficult to pull back out if something major is wrong. Gears look to be in good shape. How do you check to see if there is bearing noise? Thanks.

    3rd member swap advice

Trying to plan out my summer projects. I want to swap in this new 3rd member to replace my open (I think)3.23s and gain sure grip. 489 case with 3.91s This was pulled from my fathers car several years back and has just been sitting since. I did nothing but clean it up and paint over the...

    904 Won't Pull

Ha. Indeed he is. In fact, he's the one that introduced me to mopars (and a-body's!) at a young age with his '70 Swinger. Sweet ride. He's been a big help along the way for sure. He hopes the 727 will help both our projects along.

    904 Won't Pull

I appreciate the reply's. Nothing against the 904 but the decision has been made to swap in the 727. Cost is a factor. Both will need a rebuild so an arrangement was made where costs will be split on rebuilding the 727 with the understanding that I will use it for now and my uncle will use it...

    904 Won't Pull

Thanks! I hadn't thought of that yet. It looks like those can be had new online for less than $100. Then I would just have to have mine shortened if possible or find an original one for sale (saw one on here that should work.) Good info about the rear u-joint as well. Not sure what this rear...

    904 Won't Pull

Update: Decided to move on from the 904. Going with a 727 for now. Deciding on whether to try to make the throttle rod work with this one or opting for a lokar or similar cable. Going to swap in a different rear end at the same time. Going from an open 742 with 3.23 to a 489 with 3.91s. Will...

    Missing kickdown linkage...

Not to hi jack, wondering myself - do the lokar cables (or others) serve the same purpose as the linkage in that they also keep the correct line pressure?

    904 Won't Pull

This seems to be the case. The rod that goes down to the trans hasn't seemed to work correctly since the new vb was installed. I fear that you are correct and she is cooked. I'm sure it could and should be repaired but I don't want to put any more $ in the 904 since it isn't my permanent...

    904 Won't Pull

I learn something new here most every time I log on. I never knew that linkage played that important a role in keeping line pressure. I have begun to research a bit and will for sure pay attention to get it adjusted right when I get it back together. Thank you.

    904 Won't Pull

Good to know. So I need to be looking for a shaft from a duster/demon/dart sport with small block/727/8.75?
  30. demon322

    904 Won't Pull

I for sure have a couple of 727 converters. Other than the trans itself, what all would I need for the swap? I know the driveshafts are different between 904/727. Is a Dart driveshaft the same as a Demon? I think they have a different wheelbase. Transmission mount? My uncle has offered to let...
