    Nitrous plumbing A1A...??..

150 shot and under you are fine tapping into the fuel line to your carb (assuming you already have a good electric pump and sufficient supply). Over 150 I would get a dedicated line/pump/and regulator. The nitrous side is self explanatory. For what its worth, this is what I did years ago with...

    How much fuel pressure?

As close to the gas tank as possible....most electric pumps push better than they pull. If possible, get it low enough so it can be gravity fed from the tank. I have my Holley black pump on the rear fram rail, about a foot away from my cell.

    A/F gauge

This is the one I have as well, it works fine above idle....readings at idle are erratic, but then again my idle is pretty erratic too (womp womp womp womp).

Single vs Dual Plane, big difference?

I just reread the original post...with a stock 318 you would be better off with a small dual plane like the Edelbrock Performer (or something like that) that lines up well with the smaller ports of the 318 heads. The Air-gap would probably not run the best due to the ports being too big....like...

Single vs Dual Plane, big difference?

It is VERY combo dependent. I have run both the RPM Air-gap dual plane, and the Victor single plane on my 410. The Victor is quicker on my combo, but it took quite a bit of tuning to get it that way. I have been 10.89 @ 122 with the Air-gap, and 10.79 @ 123 with the Victor (doing an apples to...

    Spaced out: divided or open

I'll add to the confusion....On my current 410 stroker I run a 1" 4 hole tappered spacer on top of a 1/2" wood open spacer...all on a Victor intake. It works well for my application. My previous 360 motor liked 1/2" open wood spacer with a 1/2" nitrous plate above it....all that sitting on a...

POLL: Which is your favorite carb(s) of choice?

Cap: Since you said this thread is intended for learning I'll add one more thing for the sake of learning. Again, this is from my view point as a racer that drives my car on the street. I need my car to tread that thin line of being street-able, and a winning bracket car. For a race car, or...

POLL: Which is your favorite carb(s) of choice?

I'm a racer, and I drive my car on the street. For me, its Holley hands down because they make the good power, and they are consistent at the track....so I guess you can add me to the "Holley=Performance" group, with the caveat of ONLY IF it is tuned properly. This quote tells me that you...

quickest et,s on an edelbrock carby

It started life as a Holley 650dp. I put in a proform main body (making it 750 cfm), ran it for years, then last year I converted it over to e85 with Robmix metering blocks....my point is, you don't have to have a HUGE carb to go fast, but you do need to know what you are doing or your car will...

quickest et,s on an edelbrock carby

Any guesses on what size Holley is on my car? It runs 10.5's @ 125mph, and it is street driven almost every weekend of the summer.....I'll give you a hint, it is less than 800.

quickest et,s on an edelbrock carby

You can go fast with an eddy carb, however, you will be leaving power on the table. How much power really depends on the combo. Walk around the pits at the drag strip and see what most of the faster cars are using for carburetors...I would be willing to bet you find more than 90% of folks...

Fuel Cell- Where to mount it

Fuel cell in the spare tire area for many reasons. The 2 biggest are: 1. Accessibility....You will be adding fuel often, but your spare tire will get almost no use at all (hopefully). For that reason I would put the thing that gets almost no use (spare tire) in the most inconvenient to...

    Air Bleed Alternatives

It seems rich? How can you tell? My point is, you really can't tell for sure with out some other tools (like a wideband). I would leave the bleeds alone until you can tell for sure what you are doing with them. In other words, don't mess with them until you install a wideband...even then its...

    Looking for a carb recommendation

If the carb is worn out and you are going to replace it anyway then I would go with a 950 Holley dp for max power potential....but for what you do with the car, your current carb would be fine. FWIW, my car has a small street roller (.576/.582 lift) and a Holley 650dp that I transformed to a...

    Convert to methanol

Adding the fire wall behind the back seat is easy. When I switched to a fuel cell I made my fire wall in an afternoon and was able to re-install the seat so the kiddo's can ride back there. Just make a cardboard or poster-board template, get the proper thickness of sheet metal and go to town...

Ran 100 octane for the first time. Wow

Awe MAN....I was having fun watching this post go way off the track, and there you go, having to breath some sanity back into it, lol. I agree, if your motor does not have the compression to require higher octane fuel, you will actually run slower with a fuel that has a slower burn rate (e.g...

Holley 4150 dripping fuel from primary discharge nozzle?

Now that the T-slot is square, if it won't idle without pressing the gas it probably means it needs more air. Again, pull the carb off, flip it, there is an adjustment screw that will crack open the secondaries to let in more air (should fix this)...if this does not work there are other ways to...

Squaring the idle slots.....Flip the carb, make sure this is only exposed enough to make a square (Arrow #2).

    e85 The Question.....

Cool, tuning is MUCH easier with a wideband. I have 1 one my car (just 1 o2 sensor) and I try to keep it around .78 lambda, but it runs close to the same from .77-.82 lambda. If I recall correctly max power rich is about .71 lambda and max power lean is about .84 lambda.

    e85 for the street?

First, let me clear up a little miss information.... 1. e85 is not harder on your fuel pump IF your fuel pump is alcohol compatible. 2. Some modern rubber fuel line is compatible with ethanol, it just depends on the type of rubber. Pros: 1. More power...Most folks I have talked to...

    e85 The Question.....

I got my conversion kit from here: http://e85carbs.com/ It took some tuning, but (from my results) picking up over 2 tenths in the 1/4 mile, and 1 tenth in the 1/8 mile is HUGE for essentially a simple carb rebuild that takes about 40 minutes. Everyone I have talked to picked up at least some...

    e85 The Question.....

Mine is a 10.8:1 compression pump gas motor that I converted to e85. I have herd of folks running a little north of 14:1 compression, but there is no minimum compression number. Obviously, you CAN run more compression on e85 than you can in a pump gas mill; therefore, there is potential for...

    e85 The Question.....

No, you don't need top end lube with e85...you do with methanol, but not with e85 (thanks to the 15% gasoline). I converted my carb to e85 in the spring and I have been VERY happy with the results. The short version is, it runs WAY cooler, picked up over 2 tenths in the 1/4 mile, WAY...

Ok, pardon the dirt....the two holes above the rear are where I had the fuel pump mounted. The pic that shows the pumpkin (covered in tire rubber pieces and dirt) shows where the pump was, and the cluster of holes is where the filter was mounted...those Swiss cheese holes were already there...

    elec. pump/filter location

When I had a stock gas tank, I had my Holley blue pump and canister fuel filter mounted in that general location (lower than the shock mounts, but in between them). It was approximately level with the sending unit. I had it that way for probably 12 years at least with no issues. It was enough...
