if it is a reverse manual valve body 1st will be where drive was, and you pull back to 2nd, and again to third. make sure your trying to start off in first, some are regular pattern which would be first all the way back..........good luck.........hope that helps, higgs

that's not a lot of info to go on...........it could be alot of different things performance-wise, timing, carburetion, compression could be bad on the motor, timing chain could be worn...................u say the car has a newer motor, is this what the guy told U? did you have this verified by...

i had a converter break at the snout awhile back.........it was because it was cold here, and i used to start the car in park, so the pump isn't charging the converter, i put the car in reverse and the high pressure that reverse has and the car not warmed up on a cold day cracked the...

wheels turning the opposite direction indicates spider gears.... he also said that "sometimes" it will hook up posi.......my uneducated guess would be that it's open...... higgs

it's an open rearend..........the weight on each tire will determine whether it will hook up w/both tires, sounds like your weight on each tire is pretty close to each other. i had an open rearend in my car for years and used air shocks, each with it's own schrader valve to balance the weight...

did u chk. your drive shaft? make sure it's balanced and true...... higgs

sounds like your hub on the converter is broke........when u pull it apart chk. the hub for a crack.. higgs
