    Valve Spring Keeper Replacement

Good morning, The springs are new, cam and lifters are new. Retainers are not and keepers are not. I bought them as a package off of the net from a guy on BBD. New, but sitting on the shelf stuff. Thank you, ROB

    Valve Spring Keeper Replacement

Hello All, I am putting my 440 together for my project Dart. It is a very low-buck engine that is basically a cam/springs/intake engine with some mild head clean-up. The cam is a Hughes Grind with 223/230 at .050 or so. Should I replace the valve spring keepers when I have the heads...

    Engine Building Tools?

I knew I could count on Moper. Awesome! You replied to my post on Moparts too, the 451 question. Jeeper equals Toyotajeep= same guy. I'm not sure why I did two names, but I have traditionally gone by ToyotaJeep. Anyways, so you would recommend the cast rings for a re-ringer? And...

    Engine Building Tools?

Hello, I am a shop teacher and I used to post here alot, still lurk multiple times a day...and post when needed. Truthfully I am doing the BBD thing so I have been there. Anyways, we are finally working on the BB Dart Sport. It is a budget build, although I did increase the budget...

    318 cam selection?

I am currently leaning pretty heavily towards the Summit cam. Although the there is an Elgin grind I have wanted to try for some time. It is the 934P I think. It has 222 and 232 with 447-450 lift. I don't recall the lobe seperation. Thoughts on that one? Good place to purchase it...

    318 cam selection?

That sounds good to me. I guess I could put it in and if I needed more I could throw in my convertor....... Other responses? I am using the 302 heads and reworking them. Thank you, ROB Dare I ask the unaskable question..........how was it on gas?

    318 cam selection?

I have a 360 and some other speed parts that I am collecting for something a bit more serious in the future. I am using this as a teaching tool so I need to consider the needs of the kiddo's as well. One of those being that the car needs to be done in two months so that we can get going on...

    318 cam selection?

Good to know. Years ago I had a F..d that was a 289, .210-.220 with a shift kit and 3.55's. It was no Mopar, but the combo was real fun for a DD. I was thinking a bit bigger on the cam than that would be good. It should pull quite a bit better all over than that engine. I will likely...

    318 cam selection?

I have asked about 3.2 million questions since I joined. I am getting real close.....think next week to starting on the car. I have a good running 318 -make that a great running 318 in there. I also have a good-we are looking into it-318 on the stand. I am shooting for a snappy DD...

Thank you! I didn't want to look pestiferous, but the other one does not work. I'll check that one out tonight, ROB

I can't get the link to work. Any ideas?

    Head Porting tools

I hadn't thought about that. I know we have some lumber mills and I am pal's with a few guys that work there. Good idea. I was just wondering if there was a "home porting depot" type of site or something out there. Seems like there is something for everything out there....

    Head Porting tools

I am preparing to get to work on some heads for my Duster. I would like to port and polish them. Is there a better source than Summits for the grinding burrs etc. What would you buy and where would you get it? Thanks, ROB

    Valve spring question?

OK. I also got some information via PM that will help. Just as an interesting FYI, I called PAW here a month or two ago and asked who made thier kit. He absolutely would not say. He would tell me the specs, but not who made it........ Thanks for the help, ROB

    Valve spring question?

I have a .484 on hand. I also have a .509 but that is unlikely to be used. Certainly no bigger than a .509 on lift.

    Valve spring question?

What would you guys recommend for a reasonably priced valve spring set that will handle .520 or so lift for a SB? I remember something about comp 901's or something. Something that is common, requires no machine work and I can get through a source online. Links? Thanks for your help...

    302 heads on a 360?

My concern has been volume. I have some J heads at home and these appear to be quite a bit smaller in unported form. BJR can certainly make them work. I will likely give it a try. Some time ago I think it was covered on Moparts and it seemed like they made pretty good torque, but shut...

    302 heads on a 360?

Wow! I won't get that performance, that is incredible. Does not sound like a good street cam..... I'm kidding! OK so we have determined that the 302 castings will work. I am after maximum bang for the buck and I really need to run what I have for now. In the future I would like to...

    302 heads on a 360?

Here is what I have on hand right now, as in it is at my house or on its way here: 4.10 8 1/4 with a Sure-Grip Eddy carbs 600 and 750 2 1/2" exhaust .484 MP camshaft Windage tray and bolts My intentions are to use as much of the above stuff as I can, since I already own it. Other...

    302 heads on a 360?

I have been working on a combination for my 73. I remember reading elsewhere that someone had put the 302 castings on a 360 for a cheap increase in compression. It seemed like it was fairly RPM limited but I don't recall. If you had a stock 360, early 70's combined with these heads what...

    Edelbrock 340 Torker intake?

I decided to not pursue it. It was somewhat inconvenient to get and my new engine has a Performer intake on it now. I may very well find a better intake by the time the engine hits the car, but I know it will work for now.........plus I own it! Thank you, ROB

    Edelbrock 340 Torker intake?

Good morning Rumblefish, If I keep hoarding, something I am prone to do, I will be able to sell them all and just buy the darn RPM! I have collected almost all the hard parts now. I get the engine stand next week and I can tear down my new 360. It has the smell of a rebuild which...

    Edelbrock 340 Torker intake?

I'm selling off some Aspen R/T parts and put in my ad that I would possibly accept some used speed parts in trade. I don't even know if he wants to sell it outright or what. That is where the question came from. I want to know what I am getting into before I talk to someone. I know that...

    Edelbrock 340 Torker intake?

It does not sound good. Maybe if it was cheap just to try it. I had a friend who had a single plane high rise Weiand on a very mild 318. It wouldn't idle etc. very well. He put on a basic Performer and it idled and ran better. Thanks for the input and ideas as always, ROB

    Edelbrock 340 Torker intake?

I have had an offer of a 340 Torker intake. I would imagine that this is a high rpm racing type of intake from yesteryear but I really don't know. It would likely be going on a 360 street-strip type of engine. Any comments, tech speces etc? Thanks again, ROB

    Maximum rpm for SB

Kind of weird that I mentioned Ford in an earlier post. A pal of mine gave me an engine for my Bronco. It was in pieces and had the rail rockers etc. When I brought it home the other day. It looked like the rod bolts could be used to hold a hood scoop on....... Sounds like a missed...

    RPM Airgap vs. non-Airgap?

I'm not trying to eek the last HP out of it. It sounds like you folks have experienced the same issues that my friend has in a milder climate. I guess that settles that question. Thank you, ROB
