    Need suggestions on vibration issue

I posted this on FEBO, but there is not much participation there, so I decided to post it here as well. After all, a small block is a small block, regardless of what it is in. I have a 73 Challenger. Originally a 340 4-speed car. Original motor blew up and was replaced in 74 with a factory...

    Have a strange miss.

I've had it for 5 years, but I havent even driven it 1000 miles. I had not driven it this year at all until the other day, when I noticed the problem. So it became much worse from sitting for a year.

    Have a strange miss.

I have a 73 Challenger 4-speed with a stock 360. Lately, it has developed a miss/backfire. It doesnt do anything when accelerating. And it doesnt do anything when backing off. But after I let off the gas to back off, and then just touch the gas to start accelerating again, it stumbles and...

    340 not running anymore...Help Please?

I read somewhere that todays gas only lasts about 30 days before it seriously starts to degrade. Your problem does sound like the choke is not working properly.

Need information on 340 J heads

My 68 Dart has a built 360 in it, but I dont really know anything about what was done to it. It changed hands a couple of times, and that info was just kind of lost. I do know that it has headers, aftermarket intake, holly carb, a 3000 stall speed converter, electric fuel pump, and sounds pretty...

Need information on 340 J heads

Guy I was talking to recently has a set of 340 J heads. Completely redone, tanked, magnafluxed, 3-angle valve job, painted. Everything installed and ready to bolt on. He wants $300 for them. I'm not up on heads. What are "J" heads? What questions should I ask? What will they do for me...

    Mysterious problem, please help!

Try to locate a garage with a "Frame Ear" or "Mechanics Ear". You may be able to rent one at one of the car parts places. I know a garage that has one and it is really neat. Basically, its a bunch of small wireless remote microphones that attach to various points on your car. Each one...

    Mysterious problem, please help!

You have low, but consistent compression, and spark to all cylinders. That only leaves fuel and timing. Changing lifters alone is not good. Once the cam and lifters break in, their surfaces are mated. Your lobes may be bad even though they look good to the naked eye. Does the spark in the bad...

Your suggestions please, I am jonesing to build.

Do you race? If you do, then keep your current motor. If you dont, quit pissing around with all of the high dollar, high HP parts. Just build yourself a stock motor with cheap, easy to obtain parts, and run it that way. It'll be dependable, economical, and still fun to drive. Stock Mopar...

What are the best Mopar heads?

I did see these heads, and it was in the late 70's/early 80's timeframe. He told me that they were some type of experimental heads. They were on his running 340, and the plugs were in the valve covers. I have no reason to make this up. I just wanted to know if anyone ever heard of this before...

What are the best Mopar heads?

I guess I opened up a can of worms here. I want to keep the engine all Mopar. I just wanted to find the highest horsepower heads without doing any work to them, other than a port and polish. One other thing: Back in the late 70's, I knew a guy that had a really fast Swinger. It had a 340 with...

What are the best Mopar heads?

What would be the nastiest set of Mopar heads available for a 340? I'm talking about actual Mopar heads, not aftermarket. This will be for a street car.
