    8.8 swap

You still have to press the bearings on this new carrier so you have to buy new bearings or pull your old ones off and use them. Keep all the shims each side in the same place and you should be good but check the back space before and after to make sure. The pinion depth will stay the same so...

    A833 gasket question

No worries, I tired to recover it with a magnet in the drain plug hole but no such luck. I'm going to try and recover the ball by removing the side cover if it's possible to do that while the trans is in the car, if not out it comes. I had to remove that bolt anyway to replace the gasket or...

    A833 gasket question

The A833 in my Dart is slightly leaking oil form the reverse detent. If I remove this to replace the gasket under the nut will the detent ball stay put or will it drop into the housing?

    Tranny Swap questions

For drag racing you want a stall somewhere around 500 rpm under your peak torque number. For a street driven car if you have a stall too high your going to be putting a lot of unnecessary heat into the transmission. My .02 worth.

    Speedometer gear question

You could give National Moparts a try. They don't list a new one but they might have a used one or be able to get a new one for you. http://nationalmoparts.com/

    Potentially Huge T5 Breakthrough!

Personally I don't have any complaints about the T5 in my Mustang. My 95 Mustang convertible 5 sp is making 310hp to the rear wheels. The car weighs 3786 lbs with me in it and I've had it to the track numerous times with sticky slicks installed and sidestepping the clutch at 6000 rpm many...

    Dana 60 info and help

Well the ring gear spacer arrived and the gears are in but the pattern is not exactly what I would call perfect.:sad1: I have removed all the shims from the passenger side carrier bearing and I still have a bs of .012" which is right on the edge. The patten is the best I can get because if I...

    Dana 60 info and help

Yes, since I bought these gears used I think that's the problem. The guy I bought them off switched out these gears for 4.56's so that might be a clue that he had a 4.56 carrier. I had no idea at the time there were different size carriers for the Dana 60. Live and learn. The .160 spacer should...

    Dana 60 info and help

The spacer is .160 but I do have shims on under the carrier bearing that I can remove if need be. I never actually measured the bs but it's around 1/8", could be more but I know it's way out. Approximately for every .010" of side movement the bs will change .007" The spacer won't be in until...

    Dana 60 info and help

No idea who makes this carrier because there is no name on it and it was in the car when I bought it. Apparently there are carrier series 3, 4 and 5 now. I have a series 3 carrier which I identified this morning by info from a 4x4 web site that shows measuring it from the ring gear mounting...

    Dana 60 info and help

Need some help with a Dana 60 gear swap. I have a Dana 60 from a 69 Charger in my Dart and I'm in the process of switching out the 3.54 gears to 4.10's. The 4.10 gears are used Richmond gears. I've set the pinion depth but when I mocked up the carrier I have at least 1/8" backspace and I can...

    8.8 swap

You can get conversion joints for 1310 to 1330 and 1330 to 1350 but depending how much power your putting down it might just be worth changing the trans yoke and going to a custom shaft with 1350 joints both ends. I ran a braced 8.8 with aftermarket axles and 1350 joints knocking on the door of...

    8.8 swap

Depends what size joint you want to use. You can convert to the stronger 1350 joint if you need to. Summit has options but lots of places sell them. http://www.summitracing.com/search?keyword=8.8%20yoke&dds=1

Flawed test? What gears have I?

If you have an open diff which you must have then the ratio is really double because your turning the spider gears. You must have 2.93's With an open diff one wheel can stay on the ground for the test.

    8.8 swap

My previous car was not a Dodge but It had an 8.8 in it with stock factory 3.55 gears, full spool and Moser 33 spline axles with C-clip eliminators running 9.15 to 9.90 in the 1/4 mile for 8 years and never had a problem. That car weighed in at 3000 lbs and I was leaving off a trans brake at...

    833 Tail shaft swap

Is it possible and how much trouble is it to swap the tail shaft on a 69 B-Body 833 to an A-Body type? What's involved? Other than the shifter mounting location are these the same length? Or would it be better to just make a bracket to move the shifter to the correct location and keep the...
