    Make sure you install the low pressure spring in the regulator for the carb setup. Since you may have put a lot of extra fuel into the engine I would check the oil to make sure it's not full of fuel. How are you installing the fuel return line?

    How to Modify Holley Regulator to Full Bypass

    I`m working on an EFI setup and thought about modifying one of these regulators. Your idea looks like it could work for an EFI setup too if I could find a spring with the appropriate pressure. The only thing I'm not sure of is if the original diaphragm can support the added pressure.

    Main jets should have no affect on the idle mixture. Check the float levels and make sure the inlet needles are sealing and the carb isn't flooding.

    If it initially hesitates and then picks up you need to enlarge the squirter, if it goes and then falls on it's face you need smaller squirters. Before messing with the squirters make sure there are no vacuum leaks and your initial timing is good. It cold be slack in the pump linkage too.
