    318/8 Speed Swap

"As of right now we are using http://soundgermanautomotive.com/pcs/ . His kit comes with a harness and uses a CAN playback box to fake out the factory TCM, making it think it's in a new production vehicles. It also requires a new 8 speed factory shifter. Also we had to purchase hp tuners and...

    T-56 MAGNUM conversion

OK... regarding the GM version of the aftermarket T-56 Magnum. Well, the torsion bar bridge worked fine as is. The transmission cross member required some "minor" adjusting. It is in there now! Console is a no-go in anything resembling the stock location. Here is Sam burning it in.

    T-56 MAGNUM conversion

That is the LS OEM version, correct? Mount location is close, about 3/4" farther back than the transmission Todd has so may not work plus I am not so sure about the whole driveshaft thing. Here is someone putting one in a Camaro...

    T-56 MAGNUM conversion

Todd, There have to be about a dozen T56 transmissions out there. Tremec alone lists 10 with no mention of the Viper; look under the "Technical Specifications" tab: http://www.tremec.com/menu.php?m=104 The OEM Viper T56 like "72BBSwinger" has is, as he measured, 27 5/8" to the mount. Looks...

    T-56 MAGNUM conversion

Yep, no doubt. I'm sure I could build a template, cut the plate with the plasma, weld it all together... but, I work more than a full time job, have three small children, and very little time. I have experience with stick, MIG and TIG. I have even done a little programming and used to run...

    T-56 MAGNUM conversion

Maybe he should price out some 1/4" A-36 plate, having it cut, jig made for it, welding... see if he can build just one and come out ahead. I love the question where someone asked if you really had to use Carbon steel... steel by definition contains Carbon... not everyone is an engineer or has...

aluminum vs steel flywheel for stroker

Seen plenty of them driven by crap drivers - so yes. Maybe you are right - I would love to drive the same car with both when it comes time for me to buy my clutch assembly. Unfortunately I will probably have to make the decision without that benefit.

aluminum vs steel flywheel for stroker

I would agree with you on that assessment, you would have to work it pretty hard. Have you ever seen someone try to drive a Formula car for the first time. It is hilarious. The rotating mass is really low. It takes a bit of practice before you can get the car to move from a stop. Steady...

aluminum vs steel flywheel for stroker

Interesting. Acceleration of the car, and deceleration in gear. To simplify, the inertia of the car can be viewed as a load attached to the clutch disc. When the clutch is disengaged the inertia of the engine's rotating assembly, including balancer- flywheel- pressure plate- crank- rods, is...

    looking for package parts info?

From Valiant dot Org: http://www.valiant.org/duster.html "The Feather Duster included aluminum replacements for the inner hood, trunk bracing, bumper brackets, and intake manifold, cutting weight by 180 lb (around 5%). It had a smaller single barrel carburetor, economy distributor calibration...

    Which transmission should i use?

904 has a whole lot less rotating mass - better match for the 318 I believe the 727 uses the same yoke as the 833 - driveshaft length is probably different. Not too hard to find a 904 driveshaft yoke.

    speedo cable question

It is really easy to pull the speedo gear housing - just note which mark is lined up to the mark on the housing.
