    Exhaust Manifold Paint

When I installed the Dual Dutra's on the slant in the 83 D150 back around 2010 I had them powder coated by Indy Powder coat. They say they used a high temperature material suitable for exhaust manifolds. However it did not take long for rust to begin showing through and of course IPC does not...

    V Band Clamp Question

I ordered V clamps to fit a 2 inch pipe. The OD of the 2 inch exhaust pipe is 2.030 The ID of the 1/8 inch cut into the V Band clamp is 2.034 The ID of the main body of the V Band clamp is 1.951 so the exhaust pipe will fit into the shallow 1/8 inch depression, but not into the main body of the...

    V Band Clamp Question

I am considering adding V Band Clamps to an existing exhaust system, to make disassembly easier for engine pulls. I bought a set of Summit V Band clamps and noticed that the depth of the diameter for the exhaust to print into is only about 1/8 of an inch. For ease of installing, less critical on...

    Header Paint

Yes, and the Dutra’s are heavy. Probably weighs as much as a stock exhaust manifold. On the intake-exhaust and the pipe ends I use Remflex gaskets, never had a sealing issue with those.

    Exhaust Band Clamps

I have the same style band clamps on the exhaust on my 83 D150. They hold just fine. However as you may expect, over time the two sections of exhaust pipe inside the clamp become one and are near impossible to separate. I ran into this issue when I did a recent engine pull on the D150. I ended...

    Header Paint

Reviving this old thread, used Rustolium Ultra Silver on a set of Dutra Slant Six Manifolds. The Dutra’s had been High Temp powder coated twice by Indy Powder Coat. The first trial did not last, neither did the second. Maybe it’s just me but I expected a premium high temp powder coat to look...

    Dutra Duals

the Holley 350 seems like it would be a logical choice, but for some reason folks have had issues getting that carb to run right on a slant, the two bbl Holley 500 is reported to a better choice. info in the thread linked Holley 350 CFM 07448 - Carburettor - WOT issue - Slant Six Forum

    Dutra Duals

The new Aussie Speed castings have revised the rear manifold to better clear the starter, I bet that you will still need a mini starter. With the Aussie Speed exhaust manifolds you loose the exhaust heat hot spot below the carb. On my Dual Dutra install I modified the intake manifold egr cavity...

Let's see Pic's of your Slant Exhaust!

The wrapped Hooker Long Tube Headers in the 68 Barracuda. When on the strip the headers dumped in to a set of 18 inch extensions. The project for this week is putting a street friendly exhaust system in.

Let's see Pic's of your Slant Exhaust!

The exhaust under the 83 D150, Dual Dutra's each with 32 inch down pipes, that Y together. The slant in the D150 was built for low RPM torque, so it is not a high winding slant, this exhaust system gives it a definite growl as the RPM's get above 2500

    crazy idea

aluminum alloy is OK to use as a head or piston material, I cannot see why it cannot be used for exhaust manifolds. pistons whether 2 cycle or 4 cycle get cooling from the incoming fuel - air charge as well as from the lubricating oil, many performance engines and most diesels have an...

    crazy idea

Exactly, the temperature at the inside wall of the exhaust manifold will be much higher than the outside wall. Remember some of the temperature is being dissipated to the air surrounding the exhaust manifold. And during an extended run at highway speeds you will see localized external manifold...

    Are these worth it?

just my comments,, looks like a lot of $ for two mufflers and header connections, for that cash you could get a welding class, and the parts,, the welder would be +$ but you would have the skill. just a thought,, if you are a bolt on an go person,, maybe ok.
