    More nonsense from NHRA Tech

Whoever on the Tasca crew received the manifolds when NHRA returned them after Gainesville should have requested confirmation of legality from NHRA. NHRA tech just created a bunch of future work for themselves because teams are going to be demanding written confirmation going forward.

Pretty soon they'll be awarding 'Participation Ribbons' to all competitors and having snacks after the race. There's your "parity".

    Brittany Force flying once again.

Grubby was out during Pro Stock Q2 personally walking almost the full length of the lane they were going to be running in during Top Fuel Q2. He'd get off the track when a run was getting ready to be made, then go back on the track between runs. Obviously he saw what he needed.

Did y'all notice in the article that the long-time sponsor (Auto Club) will no longer be associated with the drag strip following the World Finals in a couple of weeks? The new sponsor is In-n-Out burgers. Here's a link to their announcement...watch the videos and enjoy the A-bodies! In-N-Out...

OK, here goes... I've followed the Indy 500 for a lot of years. As a young kid I listened to the radio coverage of the "Greatest Spectacle In Racing" because that was the only coverage there was on the day of the race. You had to wait several weeks for condensed television race coverage on the...

    Drag strips closing in US...

I know exactly how you feel. The vast bulk of both my drag race attendance and later racing my '69 340 Swinger was at Orange County International Raceway here in SoCal. I loved that track and have so many memories from there: my first class win, bracket racing wins, trophies, great friends and...

    NHRA qualifying on right now

You should have come out to SoCal for Friday qualifying...75 degree day (71F when pro qualifying started at 4PM PST), gentle breeze pushed wonderful nitro smell right into the uncrowded grandstands. Perfect day! On a downside note, none of the major parts manufacturers/distributors had displays...

    Quickfit Harness

The mounting point for the OEM 3-point shoulder belt in my '69 Dart is well above my shoulders. Granted it's primarily designed to keep me out of the steering column in the event of a front end impact The possibility of spinal compression and related injuries is frightening. I would look for...

    Quickfit Harness

With the low mounting point to the rear seat belt attachments, I believe you may run the risk of serious spinal compression in the event of an accident. The correct mounting location for shoulder harness belts is generally considered to be an angle of no more than 10-degrees below the top of the...

    Super Street Competition

I'll be watching this one with great interest! I was building my old '69 Dart to run Super Street back in the early '80s but (stupidly) decided to sell the car during a minor family financial crisis before being able to run it down the track. My basic combo back then was: * .030-over 340TA block...

    Bostonian 71 demon

Luvin' it! White-painted headers, cool can, and all. You nailed the look from back in the day. Back in the mid-'70s I built my old '69 340 Swinger to run Super Street and had to tuck the 14x32 slicks in tubs all underneath the body because the rules said you couldn't raise the rear wheel...

Will a 32×14 slick fit in a Mini tubbed 70 dart?

No pics. About 35 years ago I built a '69 Dart to run NHRA Super Street. It was back-halved with full wheel tubs and the rear fenderwell openings stretched 4" in order to stuff that size slick underneath...and yeah, the 8.75 rearend was narrowed a bunch.

True Bracket Car vs True Street Car....

I'm planning on driving an exception... * All steel * Full interior * Reliable and fun to cruise for lengths at a time * 380-horse 360 crate motor (but I want to get about 450+ horsepower out of it) * 4.30 gears * 200-4R OD lockup tranny...the .67 OD is going to make those 4.30 gears into...

Dumping your loved ones ashes on the dragstrip: RESPECT

I'm not stating any names in this story. Some years ago a very good friend of mine passed away after a long and brave fight with kidney cancer. He loved all types of racing but especially drag racing. At the time he passed, he owned a fairly famous historic dragster that he'd restored and ran...
