A 727 "whines" jus' not as much as a 4 spd. Try driving around with no carpet or padding on the floor. You will hear a 727 "whine" while you are slowing down and it is downshifting. But as far as the discussion, I'd lean towards the automatic.

yes, depending of what type of stop rings and synchros you have that tells you what type of fluid to use. Old style, you use old 75/90 gear oil. this makes the synchro's slow down fast like when you are downshifting.
