    trucks have front mounted sumps. I don't think a 340 was an option in any truck ever built but I could be mistaken. Post the vin number that is stamped on the passenger side oil pan rail and someone will tell you exactly what it came in.

    Cracked Block

    Have it welded by a professional shop that specializes in cast iron repairs. Not a bit deal to do, just may cost a bit more than most want to spend. Since it's a rare numbers matching block/car, I would not hesitate to weld it.

    just 3???? LMAO I wouldn't let 1 of those 3 you mentioned (won't mention his name) put gas in my lawn mower let alone machine anything for me... There are a lot of very capable machinists/engine builders out there, most won't be found posting on the internet though.
