    AC system update

I had the Classic Auto Air i my 70 and I ran the hose over the steering column mount (it has a little recess, behind the cluster) and then down to the left of the driver.

    OVERHEATING

@Franko have you gotten anywhere on your issue?

    OVERHEATING

In my experience. 340 9.8 cr with aluminum heads and EFI, I run right at 180. I have a flowcooler high flow wp and Robert shaw 180 high flow thermostat, Champion 26" radiator. Anyway, I've found that a high flow stat does nothing without a high flow pump.

Retro Fit Factory A/C into Original non-A/C 1968 Barracuda Convertible

Call classic auto air. Tell them what you have and they will set you up. Very knowledgeable and friendly.

    Overheating 360 new engine

I wouldn't go down the timing route with the sniper, yet. The sniper will only allow you to change the advance at idle and at specific breakpoints. While a nice feature to have, you've already proven that timing isn't your issue (you advanced it yourself). Back to the fans. Those two fans...

    Vintage Air or Similar Setup

Ok, I think attached to the passenger side also. The driver's side tho was for sure blocked off. I remember that from the directions.

    Vintage Air or Similar Setup

Aren't the fresh air ducts blocked tho? I know on mine the drivers is. Can't remember on the passenger.

    Vintage Air or Similar Setup

So I have the direct fit Classic Auto Air direct fit kit. I want to swap my control to something like this. Universal Slim Line AC Controller | Classic Auto Air - Air Conditioning & Heating for 70’s & Older Cars & Trucks. With this water valve Air Conditioning Electronic Water Valve | Classic...

    Vintage Air or Similar Setup

@j par I was talking about you saying this. The vintage Air units I put in my customers cars all had a adaptation to the factory levers. I would take off the analog cables and put electrical sensors on the factory controls and then once everything set up there's a procedure to calibrate The high...

    Vintage Air or Similar Setup

Did you do this or was this something you wanted to do? I have Classic auto Air and I don't care for the factory lever controls. I never could get the mode right.

    Troubleshooting help needed-AC pressures

So maybe a dumb question, but if my system is charged can I still pull a vacuum to check for leaks? My dad has a vacuum pump I can borrow.

    Troubleshooting help needed-AC pressures

I was just going by what classic instructions stated. They said for a new system you want to be sure all the moisture is boiled out. When I have it done again, I'm going to o take note of the pressures, as I do believe it should be cooler coming out of th vents.

    Troubleshooting help needed-AC pressures

Oh boy. I know how you feel. I'm going to have my system (classic auto air) redone. I had a shop charge it, but the tech didn't really seem to want to follow the instructions, and it doesn't blow nearly as cold as it should over 40* on the thermometer. He only pulled a vacuum for 30 mins (new...

Classic Auto Air in 67 Barracuda Factory Non AC

Sorry, I'm getting confused. You have the slim controls as pictured. What box do you have? (Part#?) If you have the old box, how did you make it work?
  17. plumkrazee70

Classic Auto Air in 67 Barracuda Factory Non AC

Ok, so I just called them. So the new system uses the same factory sliders, but have integrated potentiometers that connect to a electric water valve and servo on the box. He confirmed you CANNOT retro fit an existing perfect fit system with this new setup. They will not sell the parts...

Classic Auto Air in 67 Barracuda Factory Non AC

It looks like they changed the bundle.

Classic Auto Air in 67 Barracuda Factory Non AC

Interesting! So I may just need to upgrade water valves, and the controls, if the box is the same.
  20. plumkrazee70

Classic Auto Air in 67 Barracuda Factory Non AC

How does the new controller control it all? Does it still have a water valve in the line?
  21. plumkrazee70

Classic Auto Air in 67 Barracuda Factory Non AC

Interesting. Do you have the receipt with the part numbers listed? I would love to upgrade mine.
  22. plumkrazee70

Classic Auto Air in 67 Barracuda Factory Non AC

Yes, so is the box you got a perfect fit kit or a universal? I guess the question that needs answered is are the boxes the same, but the controls different? I wanted to update my controls, but I believe I was told I couldn't because of the box I got.
  23. plumkrazee70

Classic Auto Air in 67 Barracuda Factory Non AC

So one cable moves the water valve in the engine bay (temp control) And the other operates a little bar that is connected to the box, that I believe moves the doors that direct the airflow (face, feet, def, etc)
  24. plumkrazee70

Classic Auto Air in 67 Barracuda Factory Non AC

I don't think that will work with the perfect fit kit. I saw that on their site and emailed them. They said it only worked with the universal kit. So I'm curious how this turns out. Mine is operated by the factory blower switch (which would be easy to rewire) but the temp control and mode is...

Recommend an AC system for my 68 Barracuda

I installed a classic auto air kit and everything went together just as it should. There is a how to thread on installing one in a demon. It would give you an idea.

    Car getting real hot....

This feels very cut and dry. The temps go to 160 ( too cold in my opinion) while driving. In traffic, it climbs. Sounds like you need a better fan.

    New In-Dash A/C Vent Location

Huh. Never heard of that kit.

    New In-Dash A/C Vent Location

What AC system? I used Classic Auto Air and it retained the factory controls.
