Deals are still out there guys. And this deal on a Victor340 had perfect timing.

I’ll speak up and throw my 2 cents in. Pittsburghracer is a stand up, honest and trustworthy guy in my book who does excellent work. He is so worth YOUR time.

    Belt guidance

AJ & AbodyJoe nailed it. You’ll just have to measure it up with a string/rope or cut up belt. That’s what I had to do with my mixed bag of crap. Also custom cut spacers.

    360 Cam suggestions

Oh I like that. Nice, very nice set up. I like the 4.10’s a/a 28” tire. Below is an old NOS Crane cam I picked up from FABO a while back that’s getting set into action. I’d have suggest this, but Crane is gone and the cam can only be copied. This works well in a hot rod street car. IMO, it’s...

    Pistons

Hey Dan. I’ve built several 360’s using the KB-107. I have also used the SpeedPro pistons. They also need a specific ring end gap and following the KB instructions will suite any hyper piston. If the gap isn’t enough, the rings touch and press against each other applying pressure to the piston...

    360 Cam suggestions

Excellent pertinent supporting information. The zero deck height and small cc head area are about a 11-1 ratio. Since YOU can work on them, they can be a good head for you. I would suggest a call to Howard’s cams and ask for a high lift HFT to work with your combination. I myself would yield...

    360 Cam suggestions

Welcome aboard! Oh there’s a can of worms!!!! How far down the hole are the pistons and what head gasket thickness are you using? Means nothing Sorry to read this. Spring upgrade for a good cam. Headers? What tube size? What size tires? Do you want to run a HFT? SFT? Roller? Proceed to...

Someone needs to start re-casting 340 blocks

The main stream thinking of the time was for the 360 to use a bigger crank journal for use in the trucks as a bigger heavy duty main would handle more stress under the work load of heavy hauling. While this was largely proven wrong years later, that’s the way they thought back then. FWIW, the...

Are Speedmaster Heads Good? I've Heard a Lot of Bad Press on Edelbrock 340 Heads Lately

After checking Jegs, I did t find any Speedmaster parts in there listings. I did find “JEGS” branded parts. I’m s it the same foundry? Maybe, maybe not. IDK.

    Another 318 set up

Because your beating use to death with questions looking for answers on something you yet have to obtain. As well as no clear direction. Try getting the damn car first, then try a modification and see how it works for you.

What cam to use in a 318

I love it!!!! A thinking man. Just what I’d like to know before a cam is selected along with a bit more information of course….. but cylinder head flow is really good to know. That depends on a slew of things. How far the piston is down the hole, how big the valves are & how much lift the...

    Headers

Check out engine masters episode’s for more information. I think you’ll find there are also header wraps. The coating & wraps don’t keep heat in the chamber. They help keep heat in the header tube and out of the engine compartment so the engine doesn’t consume hot air as that doesn’t help make...

What cam to use in a 318

The extra exhaust duration helps get more exhaust gases out and will add a few more rpm to a single patterned camshaft. Headers or not. I running this one in my 5.9 with the trick Hughes springs and retainers. (727/2500 stall, 3.55 gears.) Mellings makes OEM repops. Patents expire after...
  20. rumblefish360

What cam to use in a 318

No. I’d recommend that cam with a minimum of a 2,500 stall converter, & a min of 3.55 gears with the typical 727/904 trans.
  21. rumblefish360

What cam to use in a 318

In my opinion, the 904 tap it diameter cam is overrated. It shows benefits and Racing that’s so much of the street. Hughes does have a trick spring kit for the magnum head for a lot more left. I think it’s two 550.

What cam to use in a 318

What kind of lift do the Magnum’s handle stock?
  23. rumblefish360

What cam to use in a 318

The Comp Cams XE 268 below. .480 exhaust lift divided by 1.5 then multiple by 1.6 equals .512. I think it will clear. My purple 292/.509 cleared OEM J heads, you need to check your stuff out. DODGE COMP Cams 20-223-3 COMP Cams Xtreme Energy Camshafts | Summit Racing

What cam to use in a 318

RustyRatRod usually just writes .750 roller! LMAO! 6/8*’s smaller than a 340/360 would use. For what you described, I have done. I was very happy with a 218*@.050. It made for a very good driver and power to 5500 with headers, 2-1/2 exhaust, LD4B dual plane and a 600 carb. This is the max...

    Another 318 set up

Nope, 600 - min Nope, 1.88 at the min, 1.60 good Dang small cam! 2500 stall is the min. OK with the broom stick cam & gear ratio listed. Depends on how he point of view. I’d say no. Keep thinking! It’s good for the brain.
  27. rumblefish360

Your considered opinion on heads please

7* is better but bullet proof? LMAO - Hey! That was a great joke.

Are Speedmaster Heads Good? I've Heard a Lot of Bad Press on Edelbrock 340 Heads Lately

Well, I found my “769” W2 race head flow sheet but I can’t quickly find the ported sheet. It went 324cfm with a 2.08 valve. I don’t remember the valve stem size though. I know I should! This particular head was the latest and last head with MP revisions.

318 with Edelbrok perfomer intake and 600 cfm 4 barrel, what headers please?

OK, by by. You’ll get over it. LMAO No. I don’t know where you read that but not all articles are actually factual. 1 case in point I was reading some guy said you don’t want more than a 200cc runner on your 440, ever. Yea! We know this guy don’t know a freakin thing! As suggested earlier, a...
