Can anybody explain to me how to tighten up the slack in a manual steering box? i've got about 4 inches of slop in my steering wheel. I rebuilt my whole front end but reused the original steering box so I'm pretty sure thats the problem.

pry bar and penatrating oil did the trick. But not before I had removed it from the car with the steering shaft still in place.

Is there supposed to be a white plastic piece around this bearing? found some bearings on jims auto parts.com but they dont look the same. I pulled the shaft out through the engine bay. not from the inside of the car. Would this have made the plastic part stay in the column?

Well I got the steering box and shaft removed today. But before I take it to get powder coated I'd like to remove the bearing from the steering shaft. Problem is I cant seem to find a replacement for it anywhere. And I dont want to remove it and not have a replacement. What is this bearing...

Is there a trick to seperating the steering box from the column? I have all my steering and suspension getting powder coated and I'd like to take this in as well but cant get it seperated. I removed the roll pin out of the column but couldn't get it to seperate. Is there something I'm missing or...

I'm running a similar set up so maybe I'll be able to get away with some cheap used small block ones.

The car is a daily driver and doesn't see the strip much. On Ebay I see some A body bars as big as 1.18. Will these be to stiff for a daily driver? Or the bigger the better? They cost about the same as the stock ones.

I'm trying to round up the last few parts for my engine swap. Is it neccesary to swap the original slant 6 torsion bars for the .89 diameter big block torsion bars. Couldn't I just tighten up the torsion bars I already have to raise the ride height?
