I have a wideband sensor and plan on doing everything possible to avoid detonation. I plan on starting with a 100 shot and perfecting my tune with that and slowly moving on up. 300 is the most I would ever do so I'm trying to build my engine to handle it.

What exactly is the difference? I'd like to know what I'm asking for when I go to the machine shop.

I'm trying to make an educated decision on what rings to buy for my 440. I have icon forged pistons and plan on running up to 300 shot of nitrous. My big block mopar book says moly rings are safe for up to 450 shot of spray. one of the techs at sealed power told me anything but stainless rings...

I'll take it in and have it decked to clean it up a bit. I had my rods resized recently so they ought to be good. What's a general idea on how much it should cost to get it decked? Anything special to ask for when I take it in?

77' 440 block with 68' forged crank, stock 77' rods and brand new KB237 .030 pistons.

How much varience is normal between cylinders regaurding deck height? My #1 cylinder measures at .012 in the hole at the top of the piston and .022 on the bottom of the piston face. My # 7 Piston measures at .006 in the hole on the top and .012 in the hole at the bottom half of the pistons face...

No trans cooler. Its a 4 speed car. I also have a decent amount of water coming out the exhaust when I first start up.

I had my machine shop look them over when I recieved them and they said they were good to go. Maybe they didn't look very hard.

bad news. I had similar results with a hot engine. Right around 20%. I couldn't tell before but when I did the test this time it was at night and alot cooler and I could see quite a bit of steam coming out of the carb when I would put pressure to the cylinder. I had the same results on the #1...

Looks like I lied about header size. I went and measured the circumference of my pipes and the outer diameter is 2.14" So I'm guessing I have 2" pipes. I'm not sure why I was thinking I had 1 5/8 pipes. I have Pro Parts headers that I bought through schumachers. Are these healthy enough for the...

If I change my head gasket fro a .040 compressed thickness to a .020 it'd bump me from 10.65 to 11.2. Better but not all the way there yet.

I dont think it was a reground cam. At least they didn't say anything about it being one. I never got any kind of assembly sheet. I've got a reciept for what I payed for and a sheet with the cam specs that I already posted on it. I really wish I would have done all the work myself.

Here's the compression results. I tested cylinders 1,2,3, and 8. all were within 2 -3 of 150psi. All were tested with 4 plugs installed in the engine and 4 out. This one; http://www.holley.com/0-80870 holley 870 4bbl vacuum secondary. Model 80870. I had a 750 holley on but was running lean at top end on the dyno.

I'd also like to add that this is down at the coast. Low elevation. I plan on moving to Utah in about a year and will be at about 5000 feet. According to the calulator I'm using that'll drop me from 7.60 to 6.75. yikes.
