Installing a Brewers Hurst / Inland conversion shifter

Great write-up. Is your Dart a console car? Your shifter handle looks like a console one. I might be wrong. I’m certainly no Inland expert.

Got an email back from Cass at Dr. Diff. He’s got exactly what I need although they’re not listed on his website. Thank to everyone who replied.

Aftermarket 8 3/4 Small Bolt Pattern Axle Shafts?

Thank you. Would you know a part number? I checked his site last night and it looked like all shafts I saw were for 1/2 studs.

Aftermarket 8 3/4 Small Bolt Pattern Axle Shafts?

Does anyone know if the aftermarket makes a factory drop in 8 3/4 axle shaft with small bolt pattern for 7/16 pressed studs? I don’t want to change rear brakes too. Car is a ‘68 Barracuda. Thanks

    Recommendations for trans fluid??

So I finally found the reference to not using Type F transmission fluid. It wasn’t in the Torqueflite Transmission Handbook after all but it was in the Chrysler Performance Upgrades Book by Frank Adkins.

    Recommendations for trans fluid??

If I remember correctly (it’s been awhile since I read it) the Torqueflite Transmission Handbook by Carl Munroe recommends NOT running Type F fluid. I can double check that when I get home.

    3:55 gears to 323 gears

I installed a 2.76 in my ‘69 Dart 340 A727 with a 245/60/14 tire. Love those gears for highway cruising. With a 4 speed you have to ride the clutch a bit to get it moving. No problem at all with the automatic transmission installed.

Pulling Axle Shafts. Do I Have To Drain Gear Oil?

So I pulled the axle shafts out last night, and like you all said, no oil leaked out. I did notice what appears to be the thrust plug still in the center of the carrier (489 case, 2.76 gear, open diff). Should I be able to see through the carrier if there's no thrust plug installed? Does this...

Pulling Axle Shafts. Do I Have To Drain Gear Oil?

I'm pulling the axle shafts out of my 8 3/4 rear end to change the axle bearings and I can't remember if I have to drain the gear oil before I pull the shafts out.

727 return line leak at tranny fitting

I think you can get them from Aircraft Spruce.com or any local hydraulic supply place.

727 return line leak at tranny fitting

At work we use copper or aluminum conical seals to help stop tapered fittings from dripping when they just won't seal no matter how tight they are. They really do work. I think the trans fitting is 5/16 (-5) https://www.gen-aircraft-hardware.com/images/pdf/as4824.pdf

    Jeff's 727 rebuild thread

I did a bit of research and spent some time emailing very knowledgeable and friendly Pat Blais (Torqueflite Patty) about this subject and here's what I found out from him: A "simple" part throttle kickdown feature was introduced on Slant 6 904 transmissions in 1967 and forward and it remained...

    Jeff's 727 rebuild thread

If there is a part throttle kick down module on my 1969 slant 6 904 valve body, can I bolt it on my 1970 727 VB?

Linkage Adjustment for Neutral Safety Switch?

I have the same problem, and in my case it's a problem with the insulator being loose on the manual valve lever in the transmission. In park and neutral positions the lever allows the neutral safety circuit to be grounded allowing you to crank the starter. If the insulator moves slightly on...

2.94 gears with a four speed.

I've got a '69 Dart with a 340, four speed and 2.76 gears in a 8 3/4 rear. I do feel like I have to ride the clutch slightly to get it going, but I feel it's still well worth having the 2.76 for comfortable highway cruising versus the chance of premature wear on the clutch.

    Valve body manual lever??

I've dealt with Pat Blais on ebay username T'Flite Patty. He's got a shop with many good used ones available. Excellent guy to deal with. I think the part number is 2801783.

    2.94:1 gearset

I run a 2.76 in an 8.75 with my 4 speed '69 340 Dart with Mopar Performance cam P4452761 and I love it. Did 3 legs of HOTROD Power Tour with these gears and it was an awesome cruising gear. Cam Style: Hydraulic flat tappet Basic Operating RPM Range: 1,500-5,800 Intake...

    Should I swap the 3.91's for 3.55 or 3.23

I went with a 2.76 in my 8.75 with a 340 4 speed. Awesome cruising gear. 2600 RPM at 70 MPH with a 235/60/14 tire. Just took the car on a 2 hour trip each way to the cottage with my wife, 2 daughters and the dog and it was very, very enjoyable.

Fresh 727 Street Strip Trans S.B. Wont Drive

Sounds exactly like the problem I had after I rebuilt my transmission. It spun the wheels with them off ground, backed up okay on the ground, then wouldn't drive forward and felt like it was loading up and binding internally, and wouldn't move forward. When I stripped it apart I found I...

1970 A727 Valve Body Separator Plate

I'm looking to install a Transgo shift reprogrammer model TF-2 into my 1970 A727 transmission, but when I disassembled the valve body I found a B&M separator plate installed from a shift improver kit and the original separator plate long gone. The Trans-go kit requires drilling of the original...
