    8 3/4 yokes

I'm putting a rear end together 8 3/4 741 case. Are the yokes interchangeable between 741, 742, 489. I know that there are fine and coarse spline pinions and small and large U-joint yokes, but will two yokes of the same spline interchange if the source rear end case is not known. I have a few...

70 Dart Swinger Build Sheet Trans Code

all 1970 Darts with a factory 318 and automatic came with a 904. 5th character in your VIN is a G which confirms that it came as a 318 car.

    Seperator plates, Transgo vs stock

I know this is basic, but the plate "reprograms" the hydraulics for firmer shifts and less slip. How it does that I have no idea, but I see other differences in the plates. Transgo has been around for a loooong time and is well respected. I installed my first Trans Go kit around 1982...

    999 lock up wiring problem

towing isn't the only time you want to lock out the lock-up. Pulling a sustained grade at certain speeds would lead to the lock-up coming on and off and on repeatedly. The solenoid would prevent thi and there's no reason you couldn't actuate the solenoid with a switch. That's the only way my...

    Mopar Perf. A500 Pan??

Does anybody Know how deep that factory pan is? (Mine is hibernating on the other side of the country) That would tell if there is room to extend the filter, or if it is even needed. The filter is right close to the bottom of the stock pan when installed

    Mopar Perf. A500 Pan??

In an A-body that pan would be a nightmare. The stock pan on my A500 already hangs below everything else and I had to put a 4WD pan skid on it to keep out of trouble. Maybe for a truck with lots of clearance?

    Mopar Perf. A500 Pan??

Deep 904 pan? bolt pattern on perimeter is the same, correct? If it was originally for an A500 it wouldn't need the spacer to drop the filter down as the filter on an A500 is already down there. doesn't mean it wouldn't fit an A500 - only one way to check...

US Car Tool A518 Cross member

Sorry Matt, but that just ain't so. On my 42RH that is the stock pan and the specific one shown here is a stock Dorman replacement pan (with the plug relocated). Here's a shot of the stuff hanging out of the bottom of my trans with no pan.

US Car Tool A518 Cross member

I hope that this helps - I put a 42 RH in my Dart and the trans fit in the stock location, front to back. The interference that I had to deal with was the removal of most of the crossmember hoop around the trans tunnel. It is why the USCT piece is so heavy - to restore the strength of the...

    42RH in 68 Dart advice/request

remember that there is more to be done to accommodate a 46RH in an A-body as opposed to a 42RH as far as floor pan mods.

    42RH in 68 Dart advice/request

Thanks for all the information! I have about 6000 miles on my RH42 and am still figuring out if I want to do some sort of automatic activation. So far I have gotten pretty good at doing the OD lock out manually and don't often miss doing it as I slow down (usually on an interstate off ramp).

    42RH in 68 Dart advice/request

I cannot understand how it is possible for that to work. I'm not saying that it doesn't, I just can't wrap my head around this. Overdrive is actuated by an electric solenoid inside the trans. I have no idea how you could manually shift into overdrive as there is no linkage attached to the OD...

    42RH in 68 Dart advice/request

OP - I still don't get how you are shifting into and out of overdrive. I have an RH42 in my 70 Dart and it works great. I went for simplicity and the overdrive and the converter lock up are both on switches on the console. I know there are kits to provide computerized shifting, but it sounds...

Going from Column shift to a center console shift.

Only bother to do this if the result is desirable to you. Chasing money to do anything like this is a losing game. Enjoying your car is always a winner!

US Car Tool A518 Cross member

BY the way, I should point out that the REALLY HEAVY USCT crossmember is really needed when you go cutting on the crossmember support above the trans as is necessary in this build (A500). If you need details, ask me.

Matt - I've got 6000 miles on the modified torque shaft for the factory shifter, works slick as can be! Went with manual buttons on the console for the OD and lock-up and it gets more 'automatic' for me all the time. Mike D. from WA

How much play in this pivot point is normal

to answer your original question, yes 1 person can do it, but to actually get it right you need two. Speedometer is driving me crazy- Something is Wrong

There are a number of gear diameters. If you look at the housing the gear goes in, the speedo gear is off set to accommodate different gear sizes. there are numbers around the rim of the housing that correspond with number of teeth on the gear and a nub on the transmission that acts as a...

Any companies selling complete small block overdrive transmission assembles?

That's why I went with an A500 based on a 904. The frame mods were no a piece of cake, but there was no floor surgery, there was just a little hammer dimpling and as a result the factory console, bucket seats and such fit just like they were supposed to. If you want to talk about details send...

Any companies selling complete small block overdrive transmission assembles?

Here's an A500 on a stand and the surgery needed to the frame member that carries the torsion Bars in the are where it loops up into the transmission hump in the floor. In addition you need a HEAVY transmission cross member (like the USCT one) to replace the lost strength even then.
