    TTI Headers hitting Frame Rail

cool man, yeah I'd double check the measurements and go from there, and you're right, if the dimensions are off, not much you can do if for some reason the K-Member is out of spec. Ma' Mopar was a bit sloppy with the metal work back in the day, and it is possible to have one out of speck from...

    TTI Headers hitting Frame Rail

there are measurements in the TTI insuctions, are they correct? Could possibly have a Tweaked K-Frame if the car was in a wreck in it's past.

    headman headers and steering problem

**Update** Long Overdue, but in case anyone runs into this same problem, my original K-Member bent badly because of a previous wreck. New K-Member in now, headers fit perfectly.

    Anyone running hedman 78050 headers?

I run them, and they fit fine....... AFTER I replaced my K-Frame. My car was appearently in a wreck in its past, and because of the wreck the original K-Frame was bent, and this caused MAJOR interference with my idler arm, steering arms, and t-bars. They are fairly low, and I have to be careful...

    hedman "tight tube" hedders?

My car is a power steering car and I have these headers. I know they work on Auto w/ power steering, can't tell ya if the combo of power steering and manual trans would be a problem. But yes they do fit on my power steering car, (it's tight though)

    hedman "tight tube" hedders?

i fabbed up my headpipes to connect to a summit a body exhaust system, and if I have to fix it myself to have the rest of the exhaust not hang so low, but if these guys can do it at the shop for $50 bucks on a lift, its would be make a whole lot more sense than buying 2 u bends for $18 a piece...

    hedman "tight tube" hedders?

Oh cool , well im going to contact this muffler shop that seems have a really good reputation and do quailty work, and see if they can get my pipes tucked up closer to the car, i don't mind the low hanging headpipes but the rest of the tubes need to be pulled up. Once thats done i think i'll be...

    hedman "tight tube" hedders?

I just went and took peak at mine, and I must have something way off on the exhaust kit, it is so low there's no way I can drive it around. Gonna have to conjure up a little bit more fab to get it all to work right, guess there's only one way to learn!

    hedman "tight tube" hedders?

haha, i got mine on and installed the summit exhaust system yesterday as well! Random timing eh...?? The Good: I was able to finally put a full 2.5 inch exhaust on my car, and now only need to rebuild the carb to get it back on the road. Sounds good and was the first time i've ever fabricated...

OH, BTW, I'm using the stock starter, it runs about 3/4 in away from the header

    hedman "tight tube" hedders?

Tada! lol, ok so i know my welds look crappy, but i'm a total newbie at welding. I got good penetration and that's all that matters. So this is just the passenger side, and I was able to retain 2 1/2 pipe by welding straight to the header flange itself. I did however install a shorter oil filter...

    hedman "tight tube" hedders?

yeah I bought 3 U bends 2 1/2 inch. Im welding one almost 90 degree bend to the manifold itself (only because due to my motormounts the flange of the header is too close to my torsion bars to be able to bolt up). As soon as im done I will have pictures

    hedman "tight tube" hedders?

I found a set of these at the swap meet yesterday, they indeed do fit a power steering car, there us a very small amount of rubbing on the gear box, i just need to massage the tube a little bit and barely hits the torsion bar mount with the collector. I'm talking a hair. As i install these ill...

Magnum Exhaust Manifolds in an A Body

As far as stock, esp with stock column shifter, the power steering column will directly interfere with the manifold. Someone on here was talking about being able to modify a stock p/s column, but i honestly do not know of any way to do that. So if you can find a way to modify it and cut the...

Magnum Exhaust Manifolds in an A Body

Right??? I was tempted to swap my 74's manual stuff to my 73's and vise versa so I could drive the damn thing again lol, but we have allready cut and re-drilled and re-bent my idler arm mount for header clearence. looks like im commited! lol

Magnum Exhaust Manifolds in an A Body

all the threads on here are shown on no p/s cars. Magnum manifolds come into massive direct contact with power steering box and p/s column. Im not aware of any way to effectively weld the cast iron manifolds, takes an incredibly talented welder to weld cast iron. Not going to work if you have a...

    hedman "tight tube" hedders?

the thing that people don't realize on the TTI's and Doug's and what not is the fact that even at times they won't fit either. Like in my situation, the idler arm mount on the k frame is in the incorrect place, as well as the motor mount ears being tweaked. Chrysler was sloppy with the placement...

    hedman "tight tube" hedders?

im still a little skeptic because the power steering box is much larger than non. and this is the problem with the dakota manifolds on a power steering car. That first tube seems to hang pretty close to the manual box, if so, its going to hit on the power steering box.

Help with exhaust manifolds for a 66 cuda

not only do the dakota manifolds come in contact with the steering column, but also directly hit the power steering gear box. From personal experience, they are not going to fit a power steering a-body

    Found: 92 Dakota Manifolds

I got tired of dealing with my headers for now and I hit the jackpot on saturday. Went to the local Pick-A-Part and low and behold a 1992 Dakota 318. Grabbed the manifolds and the flanges off of the truck, and I as well document on how to install them. Also I grabbed the bolts besides 2 studs...

I think i found my problem, bad headers? What do you think.

So, I've been doing all I can to try to get these headers to work, but the interference in the header tube and idler arm is much to great. I started doing some research online and comparing photos and I think my passenger side header is much out of whack. The header is labeled green in the...
