Can you really pull a battery cable and the engine still runs?

I have heard that you can pull a cable off the battery while the engine is running and it will continue running. I don’t remember which cable you pull. I’ve never tried it, but I don’t see how that could work. I seem to remember that it was a way to test your alternator. What do you folks think?

Need Help With Routing the Wiring for 69 Barracuda Hood Mounted Turn Signals Please

I finally got around to getting the hood mounted turn signals on my 69 Barracuda working. I ran the wires through the hood, but I can't figure out what to do with them after they exit the back of the hood. It looks really weird having two wires just hanging down. If anybody has some hood mounted...

02 CJ Beeping when battery is low?????

A widow friend of my wife called me with this question. She has a 2002 jeep CJ. If it matters, it has the 4.0 six, manual transmission and not much of more. Lately, the battery has been draining down, and she has to charge the battery or jumpstart it frequently. She got a new battery for it a...

Has anyone tried making the hole in their radiator housing larger to fit a larger radiator?

When I bought my 69 Barracuda about 33 years ago, it had a pretty good sized radiator in it. I assumed it was a 22" out of a B or E model. It did JUST fit from side to side, but about 1.5-2" of the core was blocked on each side. I stripped the entire car down to bare metal both times I painted...

Today I Blew Apart and Fixed an Inoperable Horn. It Was Easy.

A friend of mine has a 1981 Chevy short bed step side pickup. He bought it new, but it hasn’t run in about 15 years. We have been working on it for about a year to get it running and driving again. To do so, we have taken a break from restoring his 56 Studebaker Powerhawk. We went through the...

69 Wiper Motor Finish and Testing Questions

I have had this 2 speed Wiper Motor laying around for years. It was off of a 69 Barracuda parts car. I thought I'd sell it, but I wanted to clean it up, blast it and powder coat it first. As you can see, it is a little crusty. I have three questions: 1. I tested it yesterday by grounding the...

Can Anyone Help Me Test a 69 Barracuda 2 Spd Wiper Motor?

I would like to test it, but I am not sure how. i am pretty good with electric systems, but I can't figure this out. If it works, I'll probably clean/powder coat it and sell it. Weird problem with starter today. Opinons welcomed!

So I started my car today and there was a terrible grinding noise coming from under the hood. 69 Barracuda, 340, 4 speed. It didn't sound like knocking rods, so I made a snap decision to leave it running to investigate. It seemed to be running fine, and I saw nothing rubbing, and I was positive...

Minor electrical problem; possibly a bad ground

I've had this minor problem for a while, but it only happens when I drive at night with the lights on, which I rarely do, so I haven't fixed it yet. 69 Barracuda FB. Both front turn signals work fine (nice and bright) when the headlights are off. However, when the headlights are on, there are...

Two Ignition electrical questions discovered during MSD installation

Background: 1969 Barracuda, 340, fairly new 650 Eddy Thunder Series carb, orange box Mopar Performance ignition. Car runs fine, but didn't have quite the same punch as last year, so I thought I'd do a few upgrades starting with a complete MSD ignition system (Digital 6AL, Billet Distributor...

Who is running MSD 6/AL with MSD Billet Distributor? Do you like it?

After a lot of research, I think I'm going to pull the trigger on a complete MSD 6-AL system to include their Billet, mechanical advance only distributor. I want comments from people who are running the 6-AL and/or their billet distributor. I have heard some bad things about the 6-AL, but mostly...

Found an error in a wiring diagram

So I am helping a good friend with a frame off restoration on his 67 Mustang. Yeah, I know, it's a Ford. I said he was a good friend, not that he has good taste in cars. Anyway, we are 95% done with it now. I was running the wire harness for the factory AC (following a wiring diagram), and I...

No Brake or Turn Signal lights 69 Barracuda

Sorry for the length, but I wanted to provide complete diagnostics the first time. 1969 Barracuda 340 4 speed. Brake and hazard lights and turn signals DID work before the restoration tear-down, but the canceling cam did not work. Last winter I replaced the canceling cam with a correct looking...
