While I was trying to break in my 440 motor this afternoon the alternator started to smoke when I first started cranking. What could cause this? Could I have the 2 wires that go to the voltage regulator crossed? Heres how I have it wired.

Any reason I couldnt plug my electric choke into my alternator as a power source? It seems like the easiest/closest place but I couldnt find any info on here about it. I was thinking since nobody else seems to be doing this maybe its a bad idea for some reason that I'm not seeing.

I bought a distributor from 440 source and need help with the wiring. It has one red and one black wire coming from it. The wires that it needs to plug into are White w/ black stripe and brown w/ white stripe. I have a wiring diagram but I'm having trouble interpreting it. Which wire plugs where?

The distributoir I was planning on using on my 440 came out of a 77 New Yorker. My problem is that it has 2 plugs coming out of it and I'm not sure what the second one is for.
