    Traction problems

Been awhile since I posted on here..I guess work and life got the best of me recently... I've been having problems getting my Duster to hook up on drag radials and slicks pretty much since I put it together five years ago. Traction is really inconsistent...sometimes it hooks, sometimes it...

    What cam would you run?

I've decided that I want to do a cam change on my Duster. What cam would you run? I'm looking to get into the 11s and it runs solid 12.20s @ 110ish now. Here's the current setup: 74 Duster, guesstimated weight of 3300 to 3400 with driver '71 360, .060 over, 10.2:1 CR Edelbrock Performer RPM...

    Fire jacket?

I've been doing some reading and found that some tracks require a SFI 3.2a/1 fire jacket at 11.99, as opposed to the NHRA rule for 11.49, but I couldn't find any specific tracks. Has anyone been to a track where that is the case? Are there any tracks that enforce the roll bar rule at 11.99...

    Spark plug reading?

I've changed out the plugs in my Duster and am trying my hand at reading them. From what I can tell, the initial and total timing are about right, it's pig rich at idle, lean at WOT, and the heat range is about where it should be. Here are the plugs in order from 1 through 8 from my 360 with...

    Sumped tank or fuel cell?

On my last trip to the track, I finally ran through jet tuning on my Holley and discovered that I may have a problem. I ran through sizes from 72F/78R to 84F/90R with a power valve in the front and only found a total .5 MPH difference through the range. With the biggest jets I put in, I would've...

    Thermal Control Products

I happened across this company when I was looking for fuel line insulation for my car. They make and sell the aluminized fiberglass insulating sleeves similar to Thermo Tec, among other things, at a much lower price. http://thermalcontrolproducts.com/home.php Shipping is a bit steep at $15...

Header wrap on aluminum fuel lines

The fuel lines on my Duster run within 2" of the exhaust and headers on the passenger side of the car, putting a lot of heat into the fuel. I was planning on putting some of that foam rubber pipe insulation on it, but I doubt it would live more than a minute or two being that close. I either...

    Predictions?

I got the Duster in one piece and am now comfortable enough with it to take it to the track, so I'll be taking it to Cedar Falls Raceway tonight for some shakedown runs. Anyone want to venture a guess as to what it'll run? Here's the specs: '74 Duster, unknown weight no HVAC, no wipers full...

    Seems a little slow...

I've been duking it out with this car ever since I built the 318 for it and it just doesn't seem to perform as well as I think it should. I'm ripping my hair out and am about ready to sell it off. Please give me some ideas as far as what to look for or if what I think it should run is way off...
