have a fresh built 318 high dome pistons mild comp. cam, have just run the engine for maybe a total of 2 hours, have not driven car, how long would you wait till you would change the oil?
1 st oil change after rebuild

go out and pound on it for 500 miles 2 hours is to much run time without any weight on it .

Unless you have loaded the engine on a dyno, you have not put an real loading on the engine at all. That is needed to properly seat the rings. Start driving it before ANY MORE idling.

Two hours of running no load on a fresh rebuild and you may need to change the plugs.
