I like my 110* lsa cam in my steel crank 360, installed at 107*, bangin gears at 6900
Have you ever tested whilst you are bangin gears or whatever? Or did you just buy what everybody said?
Just curious.

I have 9.8:1 compression with aluminum heads, smoothed chambers/edges/spark plug area, chamber fitted to bore so no overlap. Flat top pistons with quench around .030, IIRC. 63 ABDC on the cam. It's got a Dynamic ratio of 7.86
I run California pump 91 octane. In my 416 it will ping at 4000+ rpm going up hill accelerating at hard throttle. I've got the timing at 30 degrees total and run Autolite 3924's
Now that is very surprising that you get any sort of pinging considering your setup you've described. Any reason why it would do that with the DCR and SCR that low?
My guess is that autoxcuda lives at vary low elevation, causing more cyl pressure.
At my elevation he could probably us low test fuel!
That is going up a pretty steep grade from ~1000 ft to ~ 1700 ft through some mountains on the Santa Susana Pass. I was cruising at 3700 rpm (~80 mph) and a Mustang buzzed by. So I nailed up to around 5800-6000 rpm (130 mph) and backed off. It pinged some through that range.
All uphill. The peak of the Pass is about 1600 ft elevation (base of Rocky Peak) and the base of the Pass is around 950 ft (little before Stoney Point)
Normally where I cruise in Simi Valley is around is 700ft. Willow Springs Raceway is 2500 ft elevation. Don't seem to ping there. But I'm wearing a helmet and it's hard to hear.
So just leave out the good part. Geez. Did you pass the Rustang back?
oh yea. Blew by and keep going. He probably didn't want to drive that fast once I went by him.
I looked down and caught myself at 5900 rpm or so and I let off. Its a slight curve and there was a little traffic so I wasn't looking at my speedo/tach. I didn't think I could accelerate that quickly to that speed uphill. I mean it was like 125-130 mph.
