I have my 8 1/4 rear end in the shop getting gears and posi. The only thing holding it up is rear brakes. Will the 11 X 2" brakes be a good candidate or will i have to go to a 10 "? what are my wheel size options? Any help would be appreciated . Harold

If you mean you have a 8 3/4 diff with 10,s on it and going to 11,s,as long as you have the backing plates and drums that match,go for it.The bolt pattern for the backing plate is the same,so just get the hardware and do it,mrmopartech

I have an 8 1/4 big bolt pattern. I need to buy brakes and was wondering if 11 x 2" inch truck brakes from an 8 3/4 would work.

What do you have now. Do you have the old used 10x2 drums, wheel cyls, hardware, and backing plates???

I think the best bet for 11x2 is from a HD police Diplomat. Those might be the same a light duty trucks. But if you switch to different drums I'm pretty sure you'll need the backing plates to go with them.

If you don't allready have the 11.75 big front disk brakes or plan to run those in the future, 11x2 rear drums is a waste of effort.

Yes, the rear brake assemblies off of an 8 1/4, 8 3/4 and 9 1/4 are interchangable except the a-body 8 3/4 is different. It is possible to find 11" brakes on an 8 1/4. I have a '74 Dodge van that I bought for parts that has 11" brakes and and 8 1/4.

I picked up a 8-1/4 that had only backing plates. For me it was a SCORE!
I used Cordoba 11 inch drums. You will need the backing plates to use the 11 inch drums and hardware.

Below is probably a few to many picktures, but,.......There it is.
