187 oil pan capacity

Can anyone tell me how much oil a 440 with a 187 pan holds?

Standard factory pan...5 quarts with the oil filter..I have one..I would weld in some oil baffles...cut the bottom out of the sump and weld in an another one to bring it to 8 quarts...

And be careful how you drive it , that will be hanging well below the K frame .

Good deal...I will tell you why...a HV pump will suck a factory sump dry at high rpm's and damage your main bearings..then you lose oil pressure....my 340 did it...that's why I know8)

I hear ya, I'm not a big fan of high volume oil pumps for that very reason, besides, my 440 is all stock so theres just no need. It sure stinks learning those expensive lessons the hard way though doesn't it!
