1963 alumium slant six

If you use it just remember to flush out your cooling system every 6 months like the little sticker on the radiator used to say. Thats what killed those aluminum blocks and heads was that people never did that and they would start to corrode. I had the chance to get an aluminum head for 40 bucks once but it was so eaten away I wouldn't have been able to use it.

i was wondering what are the internal differnces??

i know they take the stock forged rotating assembly. but what about the bearings??

also i heard they take longer head bolts??

The main differnce between the two is that the aluminum block has the cylinders floating at the top and the iorn has them floating at the bottom. Look at the pics of your block and you will see what I mean.

i know that but just as u need a different head gasket end different head bolts i didn't know if there was anything else???

You might want to check out slant6.org for further info on the aluminum /6. Lots of good info over there (including several build-ups).

the guy i bout my aluminum from said it came with the aluminum head and he went to have a valve job done on it and they ruined the head...

ive never heard of this aluminum head???

have u??

Well some old timers have told me there was an experimental aluminum head but nothing the public had access to.

Even more interesting is an old auto trader add where a guy had a slnt 6 valiant [aluminum block] with his own custom made aluminum over head cam cylinder head.
The add was from 88'-89', and he was asking $8000 for the car, I'll bet most of that went into the making of that head.lol

There was a guy on slantsix.com (before it died) that was trying to adapt a Jag head (not sure what year) to a slant six block. If I remember right it would bolt on but there were a few bolt holes and water passages that didn't line up. I don't know what ever happened to it.

Check out this article about the aluminum Slant 6:

Steve Magnante built one up with a Hyper Pak a few years back too:

There were a few alum. prototype heads made. I think only two or three still exsist.BUT they were not made at the same time as the alum. block. The head was developed in the late 70's or early 80's before they nixed the slant for porduction cars.:read2:

I saw this aluminum block/head HyperPak combo in a first-gen Valiant on eBag a while back. Don't remember how much they got for it.
All I know is I WANT =P~
