1965 Offenhauser 273!

Just spoked with Jim. He will make my ST 14 camshaft next week.
FYI, the supplier of raw casted cams CVC in Michigan will end their business. Hurry up while supply last!

CMC is closing? This should be causing some serious panic.. they make cores for pretty much everyone....

Today the camshaft and lifters arrived from Jim at Racer Brown. I can hardly wait to continue the assembly of the engine.
In my stash of parts I found 4 sets of Chrysler intake manifold gaskets with block of for exhaust.
Which one would be better to use for a driver?

My grand child Oscar was eager to mount the camshaft from Racer Brown with the lifters, pushrods and the valve train.

Finally the longblock is done. Need some polishing on the valve covers.
But what kind of headers do I have? It is so tight for the bolts holding the headers.

For this engine build, anyone remember these Offenhauser air filters from the 60ies.

I don't remember Offenhauser offering the finned cast aluminum air filter in the sixties. Not saying they didn't, but I don't remember ever seeing them. And I did pay attention.

The chrome air filter is a copy of the air cleaner Ford put on some of their hi-po engines, including 289 and 390.

Everything's adjusted and ready. Next is to find a Holley carb and the air cleaner.
When Chrysler offered these engines with help from Offenhauser, would they have used a 4 bbl air cleaner from Chrysler or Offenhauser?

This one is a copy of the mid-sixties FORD air cleaner. Xnay on that one.

Edit: I forgot I had already identified this one in post #39.

OK, but I like the chrome one better. See post #20. The one above is for later 340s etc, so not like the original 65 in any event, but the original 65 four barrel air cleaner was chrome.
ohh geez i didn't realize this thread is that old :) and it looks great with that chrome one

i'm partial to the chrome 273 charger/commando air cleaner.

i think that's what ma mopar would've used as they had it and it flows well for what it is.
