1965 valiant gas cap

Hey, would anyone know where I can find a gas cap for a 65' Valiant? I look about most every where and came up empty.
 
daimrader makes an aluminum cap & SlantSixDan had some originals repo'd-- both very good pieces ,Lawrence
 
Before anybody bashes me on this post -- sorry.

Layson's might have one. I bought one many years ago from them at a show that they were at.
 
damraider makes a good cap for cheap. Paint it to match the car and nobody will ever know...
 
There was a nice milled aluminum one on ebay for $35 I was watching (might be same damraider piece), since my 65 Dart came w/ an after-market locking gas cap. I recall a new racer-type flip cap, similar to what came on some 'cuda's or challengers, and might fit.

Someone (can't remember who) on the site was making adapters to fit both early and later A's to use a flip cap.

I found a solution for the gas cap. While at the local junk yard this weekend, I pulled the filler tube and cap out of an early 70’s Dodge truck for $8.00. took it home and in about an hour I had the problem taken care of. I pulled the filler tube out of the Valiant and cut about an inch off of the cap end. Then cut the truck filler tube about an inch and a half from the cap end. I had to expand the pipe a little so the slipped over each other. After putting things together and making sure everything lined up so the handle on the cap was level, I marked it and pulled it out. Soldered it together, then put it back in the Valiant. For $8.00 and a hour I now have a gas cap that looks original, that’s not obsolete and all I have to do is remember if I need another cap is to get one for a 78’ truck. Since all the work is done under the quarter panel and the jack is there, you have to stick your head down and look for it to see It.
 
Brilliant!! I love a cheap, elegant solution like this. Jealous 'cause I didn't think of this when the cap for my old '66 Valiant got run over by 2 lanes of traffic before I could retrieve it. Thanks for sharing and letting us know how this turned out...
 
It turned out better than I thought. Things don't go this smooth. The only thing I had to becareful of, since the factory had already soldered the vent tube there, was to make sure I didn't get to much heat on it to unsolder that joint.
