Hello guys,

trying to help a customer out. Every SB mopar i have ever owned had 2 bolt hole bosses toward the front, and one toward the rear.

I'm aware of the 318 to 360 "spacing" difference where some install a spacer.

BUT, i have a customer with a 1967 318 that appears to have 2 bolt bosses toward the rear...and only one up front.

This must be an early LA thing, as i have never seen it before, and he now has a motor mount where only 2 holes line up.

To make it equally confusing, i looked up a 360, pre 72 motor mount, and it only has what appears to be a through bolt...so it'd free swing, other than being confound by the biscuit mount in the k frame.

Can someone tell me what i need to have this gent do?

just run it with the upper bolts only...so it swings?
drill the "missing" hole in his old 318 bracket to get a 3rd bolt in?

thank you!!!!!

here is what appears to be a 360 motor mount.

I guess my question boils down to..is it ok to drill the "missing" hole, in the old 318 mount, so he can run 3 bolts...?

That is a leftover 273 thing.
We had to add an ear to the right mount to give it "2 front holes" when we swapped in a Magnum in its place.
I would see no harm in adding a hole.

Yes, drill it.

66 was the intro casting for 318 and drop of the poly..273 mount ear carried over it seems? That perhaps explains the castings with 4 ears on each side? They added the lower front ear... later they decided they use 3 instead of 4, be it cost or.. interesting to know how they may have evolved.
