I have a 1967 Dodge Dart GT. 273 2bbl automatic. I have a few questions.
1. Where is vin number on the radiator support?
2. My intake casting number is 3X19. What is the X?
3. I have no part number on my radiator but it looks original. Just 38086?
Thanks for any help?

There are no other places the VIN is stamped on a '68-older Mopar. The radiator support and trunk lip have the shipping order number stamped on them. This number is also on the fender tag. You need a broadcast sheet to match the shipping order number to the VIN. Location on the radiator support on a '68. Same location on a '67.

1. Where is vin number on the radiator support
As Jim mantioned it is not the vin but the seq number and the year and plant.

It should be under the yellow radiator fluid sticker.

Barely visible but that's the underside of the core support with the underside of the stampings

There is another under the rear driver's side trunk seal.

BTW the seq number stamped on the body is a bit odd

In my case it starts

72 mdd #####
It translates to

7 = model year or body style???? In my case both numbers are 7 (7 for 67 or 7 from 27 which is convertible)

2 = Hamtramic, MI assy plant

M DD is month day day example is 208 which would be Feb 8

Seq # is 12345 the seq it should have gone through the assy line ( or something like that)

My intake casting number is 3X19. What is the X?
I'm not seeing anything like that.

Maybe it's the casting date?

38086 is the manufacturers number.

There would have been a soldered on tag in the recess just above the 38086 that the tag would have been in the radiator core number.

Of the 3 rads below

The one not in the car is an origional top, bottom, side rails but newer 3 row core

The one in the car looks to have the factory core per a rad shop who disassembled it and rodded it out.

The one without the part number tag is the origional rad from the car and has the origional top, bottom, side rails but newer (1970 to 80s) core. It should have been a 2785 970 due to the car having CAP

Just because the top tank is origional does not mean the core is.

I'm GUESSING...

3x16 = March 16th

Reason...

My car was built Feb 8 1967

The date code on my 2bbl manifold is 1-11 Jan 11th, 3 weeks before the car was assembled

What date was your car built. On your fender tag and the hidden numbers are the date code 3 digits Month Day Day.

If your car was built around the beginning of April or after then it fits.

I’ve been investigating more and only got more confused.
Driver’s side trunk lip has 8MC 12L.
Drivers side radiator support top has 72515? and side has 0D-15.

  • 8MC 12L is most likely a monufacturets mark.
  • The rad support reads 7251517300 this is what I expected from your fender tag. This sheds some light that the 7 is the model year the 2 should be the same number as the 7th number in your vin on the door A piller. If so your car was built in Hamtramic, MI, the 515 (may 15) is the build date from the fender tag and the 17300 is the sequence number.
  • The OD-15 I suspect is also a manufacturer code.

Be carefull how aggressive you are around the rest of the stampings, might be better to use some paint remover to uncover the rest.

Did the decoders correctly describe your car?

Sometimes the decided info is a bit vague.

Like I was pretty sure that PX4 was the GT trim package but you are showing a different number and you saw it's a GT?
You need to post up some photos!

And now we have it...

Body stamping is:

7 = model year - 1967
2= Assembly plant - Hamtramic, MI
515 = Build date - MAY 15 1967
173000 = Sequencial number.

Only a build sheet and (you're in luck) your IBM card will have the vin and the Sequencial number.

The reason I say you're in luck, is that because 1967 and older Stelantis has records for and can get you a copy of your card.

Search for Chrysler Historical on FABO. for the info to get your card. Takes about 2 to 4 month.
