1967 Upper Radiator (2806066) Hose AC vs Non AC

This is an odd one, the 1967 Parts book only list one number for the 273 and it is 2806066.

In 68 the number changed and there were two different numbers, 2863211 & 2863212.

Out of curiosity I looked at 66 and it had two different numbers.

One might thing it was a mistake in 67 or an unintended omission but my 67 Barracuda broadcast sheet has a 66 code for the upper hose and my car is a non AC car.

Maybe with the new body in 67 they thought about only having one hose but for some reason in 68 reverted back to two.

I believe the non AC was more straight from t stat housing to the rad. And the AC goes up then to the drivers side then forward to the rad.

I have tried several upper hoses (67 dart OEM t stat housing and radiator) and only the over the counter AC compatible fits.

Correct, for the years that had two hoses but for some reason there was only one hose in 67

I don't remember if I saw the typo in the '68 manual before but post #1 had checking my copy to see if what should say "340" actually says "440." It does.

The compressor mandates a curve in the hose. I'm a little surprised Chrysler had two part numbers when one would do. Possibly the straighter hose was so much less expensive they'd save money carrying both. But more likely, I'm over thinking it.

It is the correct AC hose, I just need to rotate it on the thermostat to open up the bend which would push the hose over a little.

These are the hoses I used on the 340

The hose on the 273 is a Gates 20602

That can be a correct hose for 70 and up, but not 67-69 and I think 66. Here are pictures of the correct 67-69 A Body AC hose

I can assure you that the hose on my car is the same hose you pictured, it may look different from installation or camera angle.

I have another one still with the label on it that I can put side by side (tomorrow).

Yes mistakes/typos do happen. I do not feel that is in play here. My 67 broadcast sheet agrees with the 67 parts book, that agrees with a known original hose.

As seen from the top (Gates 20602), this is a hose designed for the 68+, in 68 the inlet on the radiator moved outboard (no idea how much).

On a '68, it's 4-3/4" from the center of the radiator cap to the center of the inlet.
