I know that there is supposed to be a light in the dash ash tray, but mine appears to have fallen off. Can someone post a picture of what it is supposed to look like, and where?

68 it's a fiber optic I think. I bet somebody else has pix.
68 is unique(1 year only) but heres a pic from another year a body. Should be very similar. Single orange wire clipped in from underneath.
68 rally dash is fiber optic. Out of several cars parted here only ever had one in place. Todd has the complete dash we saved but I don't think it is easy to get to for pics
pic in this thread shows the tube thingy with bulb in it and the fiber optic strand that takes the light to the tray.

The 68 rally dash has a completely different ash tray, the cigarette lighter is on the dash panel, instead of in the ash tray.

Thanks, mystery solved! The wire had broken off the back of the light socket, and that might actually have been the source of the short that burned up my dash main writing harness! Something had burned through the fiber optic cable as well, so the lamp assembly was sitting loose, with nothing attached. I had thought that the fiber optic cable was the wire for the lamp.
