1968 Dodge Dart GT Mopar Make-Over

-
Elves have been busy.

One side of suspension nearly complete.

K/H disc brake conversion
QA1 upper control arms
QA1 strut rods and eventually the tie rod sleeves. Hellwig sway bar. These tabs are way beefier than the Addco bar I have on my Valiant.

Might be on all fours this weekend. :steering:

One step forward and one back it seems. Was missing a headlight adjuster screw. Then throttle cable from YearOne was a dud. Too long. Inline-tube stainless flare was poorly done. Same with one of the caliper lines from Right-Stuff. 18in 7 blade fan doesn’t work with 68’ 22in slanty A/C radiator.

Got everything fixed except for the throttle cable. Debating on how to fix. Reswage the steel cable or return it to YearOne for a shorter one. I have the 21.5” which was the correct one according to YearOne. But no dice. Next size is 19 3/4”. I believe that should work based on my picture and the length it sticks out from the pedal.

Here’s the progress

Back on all fours. Still needs 8 3/4 and new rear leaf springs. I’m digging the black Steelies with redlines.

ECU located and ignition trigger wire spliced into original wire terminal. Came out nice.

Little update.

Got the 8-3/4 swapped into the car along with new 340 springs from ESPO. Changed out the pinion seal while I was at it. New rear drum brake hardware. Old drums were in really good shape.

In the process of refurbishing the tti exhaust pipes. Also waiting for my combo 1310/7260 u-joint so I can install the driveshaft and fill the transmission. Old Driveshaft I pulled was
Pretty cool looking so I kept it the way it as is.

Getting closer to firing up this beast. Hoping next week if I’m lucky.

Got her out in the light under her own power yesterday. Coming along. Gotta track down a few little gremlins. Short little spin down the street with my boys. Yikes!!!! Still Mushy brakes :wtf: Exhaust Manifold bolt spun when retightening everything after cam break in. Small puffer after the remflex gasket tore when removing the exh manifold to plug the heat riser hole last week. :BangHead: Exhaust pipes squeaky somewhere. New Borg box whines a little (seems like an in going problem with them)

It’s always something with a fresh build. Hopefully will have it all figure out in the next month. Perfect timing for all the summer cruises and cars& coffee.

Awesome!! Great looking car and I love that you’re doing high quality work on it.
Thank you! She’ll be a good driver while my kids are young. One ran into it with their tractor yesterday. Had a 2 second fit about it but was like oh well. It still needs paint and body down the road. No dents or anything. If it is was any flimsy newer car it would be in the body shop.

Is this the same car you did the 340 break in thread on?

Yes I did post a quick clip of the break in. It runs good. The AVS2 carb runs really nice too. Haven’t had a chance yet to fine tune with a vacuum gauge. Still in the shake things out stage.
