well guys I went ahead and bought the truck :)
getting things organized with the shipper, it super sketchy and I'm pretty nervous about buying something I can't tire kick, but the older couple that own the truck seem very nice, and there are a few trustworthy people still out there. so I will update when the truck gets here.

a little back story on the truck, the couple that owns it bought it 20+ years ago in Illinois from the bell telephone company who used it as a service/shop truck. it was originally a dark green color and was painted it's current color when the current owners bought it. they used it for moving wood to and from there property and the last 5 years it has been stored in a carport at there house. every couple weeks they fire it up to keep the juices flowing

well this was a bell phone truck at one time also . catch the green interior color . they had a bell bed . this one got changed over to the utility side . but the motor was a later addition 60 imp 413 466 typewriter trans . started life as a flt 6 3spd .

getting shipping sorted out, if someone wouldn't mind, I need the overall length and width of a d100 short bed, thanks!

Well... I finally got it, checked over a few thing and drove the wheels off of it today. There are a few spots that could use a little attention but overall it's pretty nice.
I will post some pics later

kind a truck guy , have several myself , thats one good looking ride there . thats close to what this d400 would look like . and just pick'd this crewcab up . could not resist the factory orange , it matches my little one . more in the heard besides these , lol .

Thanks!...

And nice trucks guys!
I probably put a good 50-70 miles on it yesterday, I don't think I got out of it all day

Ok guys, so tuning things up a bit, went to get new plugs and currently the truck has autolite 24s in it and the local napa said their book is calling for autolite 65s.

So what plug is this bad boy supposed to use?

NGK ZFR5N remove the crush washer if a drool tube head or NGK UR5 or UR5GP for a peanut head.

Little update, picked up a running 383/4 speed out of a 69 d300
Going to give it a rebuild with forged flat tops, cam, intake. We’ll see how it does!

Long term plan is to go 4x4 with it so I’ll keep the np435..

If I was gonna keep it a 2wd cruiser I’d deff use an 833 tho!!

mine rolls pretty good with a warmed up 69 hp383 , rpm intake , 1 3/4 headers , 470/270 comp hyd , 906 heads , oil windage tray , hp oil pump , carter afb , msd 6a box with mopar electronic dizzy msd blaster coil .

Yea I have a totally wrong for the combo Torker intake I’ll use until I get a performer rpm, small solid bump stick with ductile rockers, unsure on carb yet.

What headers are you using? I may just get the shorty center dump headers from ebag for now.

Nice truck btw!

Maybe you could send me a pic of your headers on the drivers side?

Hat way I could see how clearance would be where the z bar/linkage is as well

the headers are motorhome or 75ish 440 4x4 . they have the collector high on the passenger side to clear a front driveline . and i've made some cutouts for the racer look . that sends the 2 1/2'' exhaust pipes over the cross members for a cleaned up under side . truck pan is the same as class a m/h's . later i went with the 69 d series trans cross member and a 75 9 1/4 l/s 3.54 r/e out of a 440 ramcharger . next is a built 727 still cable shifter . but with the 71 up long bushing front pump n input shaft and a deep finned sump pan . its built just fining the time for that install . i used the same headers on my d200 440 swap .
