There has been a lot of web site postings and chatter about this car ever since it came up for auction last June. Most of the discussion seem to be over at Moparts. I was surprised that there has been minimal talk about it here.
There are still a lot of people who are hearing about the car for the first time.
Some people freak out after seeing pictures of it for the first time.
Love it or hate it. It is part of Mopar history...

They should wash it so at least you could see how bad the paint and rust are, be a really cool car to have though I`d drive it rather than just stick it in a museum.

I recall that someone who saw the car in person said that washing the car probably will remove more of Barris's custom paint work. As you can see in the pictures. The horizontal surfaces, hood, trunk and roof is where the paint problems are happening.
You are stuck between a rock and a hard place on what to do and do with it.

It was next to me all weekend at the MCACN show in Chicago and I don't think it can be washed! You would have to be very careful then probably clear over it at this point or recreate the paint scheme...

I don't see it. About all you can do is stick it on display somewhere and look at it. You can't fix it, you can't drive it, the value will go away, and the "value" in my opinion is way over rated

My favorite joke is "unbuilt heathkits." These are never assembled Heathkit electronics kits "still in the box" sell for preposterous prices on egag. So you pay a lot, stick it on a shelf, and when friends come over and ask you about that ugly dirty cardboard box, you say "That's my unbuilt Heathkit."

    "Can we see it?"

    "No."

    "Why?"

"Because if I take it out of the box the value will go down."

Here is one that might even work for 30 bucks

If I had the coin I would buy it and drive it! I have lusted after this car since I picked-up the Car Craft magazine when it came out. Like I said above, I would clean it as carefully as possible and clear coat it, then beat the crap out of it...

I had a Visible V8 that I sold here. It was partially assembled.

That car is not for the typical FORABODIESONLY member, but for the collector, not the driver which there are very few collectors on this site...

Agreed, if they want some outrageous nostalgia price, they need to roll it across Barrett-Jacksons floor.

Maybe I'm too young to appreciate it, but why is this car so special? Looks super ugly far as I'm concerned.

Yes indeed you are too young to understand what went on in the 60's and 70's when drugs were good and LSD was all the rage!

Psychedelic paint was a big thing then. Only a handful over the top custom paint cars remain today.
