You can get Semi gloss in a spray can, but I've yet to see it in a paint can and I'm not going in a store again for a long time if I can help it. Thanks!

I thought that too but found the gallon can at either Walmart or Canadian tire. Don't blame you about going into any stores any time soon. You can do curbside if you did want it. I just checked online and it was Canadian tire and they have it in gallons.

Borrowed one of my Daughters cheap candles to melt the wax, so I could coat the steering boxes input and output shaft seals. This is to protect them from blasting media damage.

Input shaft seal covered in wax.

Output seal covered nicely in wax. Will use a heat gun to melt it off after I blast and clear coat the box.

Taped off the adjuster "nuts" threads, with a bit of a flare at the base, so glass media wouldn't work it's way into the box. Not rebuilding the steering box as functionally it appears to be mint.

Not for the faint of heart. Full coveralls on, mechanics skull cap, respirator, goggles, full face shield, gloves over top of the coverall wrists and sweep the floor BEFORE you start...

Using my small cabinets blast gun, as after starting forgot that my spot blaster unit is a POS.

Getting there. If I ever run across the dipshit that painted HALF of it black with POR-15 I'll kick'm in the nads!

Why I said to sweep the floor before you start! So you can sweep up and save your crushed glass.

Ain't that purdy. Just waiting for it's clear coat.

Nice work! I agree with you wanting to make sure things were done right on this car even though it "looked" so pretty at first. I always sleep better at night knowing I inspected and had my hands on things.

Thanks.. this will be my Wife's grocery getter so it's gotta be right or she'll just drive her '17 AWD Challenger GT. It's also easier to park at the grocery store than "her" Super Bird.

You can also buy it in spray cans. Lots of places sell it, but who knows in California... but Aircraft Spruce is in your state and they sell it.

Time to seal the aluminum steering box with Tremclad Clear tarnish preventer.

3 light coats.. after I wiped the runs from being stupid on the first coat. Dries to the touch almost instantly.

Broke the wax seal protector off.

Cleaned up the seals with a Q tip and wax and grease remover. No sign of any glass media making it past the wax on either shaft.

Lots of experimenting during my Bee restoration had me chose this for the strut bushing washers and 3 speed wiper motor. Very close to original plating colour without the expense or wait of being 100% correct.

How I get away with spraying in the shop with uncovered cars. I use to think just spraying in here was fine, but it wasn't and the mist drifted out of the "meat locker".

Bought two of these off Amazon. Pull cord opens exhaust flaps and turns fan on. Off closes pretty well and I can leave it in the window.

Cheap filter in front of the fan. Works like a charm, drawing air from across the shop and out the window.

My Turquoise paint finally made it from Jegs. As soon as my order was processed they changed their listing to "ONLY SHIPS WITHIN THE USA". For my $23 they had to Fedex it to Pitney Bowes in Kentucky. Pitney Bowes marked it restricted, but then thankfully pushed it forward on Fedex to the border and then it somehow ended up on Canada Post that shouldn't be carrying it either. Delivered on a Sunday of all things to me!

Test run on some cardboard. Looks pretty good and it should for my end cost of 30 bucks A can.

Probably about right as the Blue of the engine for Chrysler's later years certainly isn't. Don't like either colour, but I certainly prefer the Turquoise to the Blue.

Got my blasting "booth" ready to do the K frame tomorrow. My last shipping tub liner bag. Guess I'd better hit the plastics plant again for more.

Reinstalled the big lock nut, being careful to position the adjuster "nut" exactly where it was when I took it apart.

Ready to fill the steering box with John Deere Corn Head grease. When it warms up from exhaust manifold heat it becomes a liquid, but doesn't leak through seals like gear oil. Need to sneak the wife's single burner hot plate out to the shop, so I can liquefy it in a can and pour in.

Drill out a brass plug for a grease zirk, and use a grease gun.

Thanks, I'd rather flow it in hot so it gets into everywhere in the box vs pressurizing the thing with a gun.

The 5 gallon can was around 400 bucks if I remember right, some 4 years back and buried in the box of my F-in-laws truck box with all his other junk coming back from Florida. Nothing is cheap, the T-9 is $200 Cdn/gallon jug with shipping from Aircraft Spruce in Brantford.

I gathered from this thread that you’ve at least done 2 sets of LCA’s and figured it might be something you used in the aircraft industry.

Sounds about right.. + the UPS hazardous shipping charges to Florida and a bottle of Rum to the old man for bringing it back. They will not ship it to Canada! Where are you in Ontario... I could always dip a pair for you..

I appreciate the offer but I’m in Ontario California, far from the Great White North! I wouldn’t be surprised if the stuff can’t ship to me either. The Cosmoline website stated “certain california zip codes.”

That turquoise looks nice! I was lucky enough to scoop some of the last few cans of MP Hemi Orange from the Dodge store before the "hazardous goods" crossing borders bs lol.

It's a bit glossy.. as I was dumb and bought gloss when my old $4.98 can ran out on the Bee. The old can was satin and wasn't as shiny but close. It dulls over time... box in the Bee.

Turquoise, I'm certain I'll have some cans for resale when I'm done... as I bought 6 cans.

After spending the weekend pulling glass out of my cheeks from doing the steering box, playing it a bit smarter this round. Like the Wife always says, "use your fresh air hood would yah, you have the thing so use it"!

I think at this point I was saying to myself, "you should have taken it up the road to the blaster guy"!

Sweep up the stuff that bounces out and suck it up like a coke addict.

About 3 hours in at this point with my shitty gun.

Most of the bottom done.

It's all the nooks and crannies that make it a PITA to blast.

6 hours is enough for one day... I'll finish the tight spots tomorrow.

Fan is doing an amazing job. All dust is going out or into the filter. No dust haze in the main shop at all.

makes me wonder how much the paint would have faded/changed color over 30 years.

^^ that and taken with what camera, flash, no flash, etc.. etc. My shop camera won't take a correct picture of my Bee's Blue no matter what I try, yet my Wife's gets it spot on everytime. I can take pictures of my Orange HP engine and make it any colour I want by changing light or camera settings from making it look Red to washed out and almost yellowish. All I'm fairly certain of they weren't using '71/72 Blue in October of '68.
