1970 Dart 340 90 Degree Oil Filter Position?

Looking for pictures or a way of telling what position the oil filter adapter goes before engine goes in car.Should of marked before I removed it.If I remember right I think it was slightly sloped downward but how much??Also heard you can delete the adapter but would like to keep it as original.Thanks in advance.
 
 
Do a lot of people run these ?? I just use a short filter and It never seems to get to hit and I can see it though my headers with no problem and put it on and take it off right from the top.

Some people do. I also prefer to just use the plate as shown above and run the ezuivalent filter to a Fram 43. (but not a Fram)....

I just use a short filter..not a fan of those adapters..
